On March 30th, I'll be headed over to the great state of Alabama to fish the great fishery known as Lake Guntersville. If anyone has any advice for me, I'm all ears. I've only been there once, for the first BF.com member event in 2008, and we caught some good fish on that trip. Hopefully history will repeat itself.
Oh yeah, I've asked Mr. Dinkmaster to come along with me ![]() ![]() Maybe if we bring Lisa along, we'll catch at least one worth taking a picture of. ![]() ![]()

Good luck Daniel. We've been there 2 times. Caught some nice fish I would like to go back again some day. Best advice I can give ya is to hire a guide named "Bamabassman" he puts people on fish and lets them catch'em.

hahaha, "mr.dinkmaster" and BAMABASSMAN are one and the same here ron, but you know that. yes, i am FINALLY getting my little daughter to come "home". daniel and louann are jsut the escorts, hahahaha!!!
For real though, i have sent ol BOB SMITH a pm asking if the bas will be on spawn then. WTL, and anyone else who has or might know PLEASE chime in. i've only been out once this year, and it was at g'ville. but that was a month ago. i am thinking the frog bite, along with buzzbaits, spinners and of course the LIZZARD. will be pretty hot. we may go up river to MUD CREEK. instead of launching at b.b.comer this trip. LOTS of grass up there and bob likes it there so............. lisa and louann will probably put caitlyn on one of the hosses and take LOTS of pictures (i hope), then do some shopping like all women like to do. and i am planning on having a nice smoked pig shoulder for us to stuff ourselves with ready. so please, chime in on what ya'll think we should try. and yes i have a THUNDERSTRUCK and CABIN FEVER jig ready and waiting.

I was there at about that time last year and there was a cold front that made it pretty tough. We fished all over the place: South Sauty, North Sauty, Mud Creek, and the main channel. The best fish we found at that time were near the main channel, up on the flats. If I were going back and it was a little bit warmer I would beat the eastern shore of this bay to death. There were some good fish in there around the docks, and some out in the holes in front of the docks. If it is warm then be sure to hit that old roadbed you can see that runs across the bay. Be careful in there, it is shallow. We also caught a lot of fish along both sides of this rock wall on shaky heads, watermelon red trick worm with 1/16 head. That type of fishing sucks, but it was tough and we caught a lot there but no big ones. I wish I had more to tell you but we didn't do too well and only found that bay on our last day.

I bet y'all will do great. If it was me and I had a firm date to go, I doubt if I could sleep a wink 'tween now and then. I'd be like a kid on Christmas morning.
Good luck.

Before I remove my toothpick and tell you to kiss my butt. When have you invited me anywhere lately? Hahahahaha when and if I get my boat, you, the misses, and the mini queen have an open invitation to come down. If you don't want to wait on me to get a boat, latch on and come see me. I got a couch that will fit everyone and a few single beds to boot.

I seem to remember a dinner Louann and I cooked for you, your wife, and all 3 kids not too terribly long ago. I think my poor cat is still a little traumatized over that night. But what I really meant was the Dale Hollow trip that I offered to haul you to. But no, you decided you needed to travel halfway around the world instead, and can't go fishing.
We're gonna hook up one day when you're back in the country. Maybe the Panther again....

I was there 3rd week of March last year. We stayed and launched most days at the state park. We did drive & launched @ Mudd Cr. one day, caught a few, nothing remarkable. We did better down lake south of the park. If you'll be down that far I can provide more, but if not it's a waste of my limited typing skills. Most of ours came on traps and another bait John knows about. We actually hired a guide the 3rd day, to get us catching better fish, but you have John - so do you want the guide's name?

I know there's some pigs in Okhissa, but I've also heard that you better know the lake pretty well or you're just wasting your time. How much have you been there? I'd be the proverbial squirrel looking for an acorn without some help...
