A little ultra-lite fun.
The last two weeks Ive been taking my little lite 5'6'' spinning rod with me on lunch breaks to bully the green sunfish.I dont use this rod enough.
A few days ago I wrapped a few little jigs to try out as well...The bite was constant for the little greenies, but couldnt hook up (My jig really isnt small enough)...Hooked up one green, then casted at some cover next to a concrete slab. I was using to float/fly method. First cast, three twitches, and got slammed by a decent bass. Didnt see that coming!.... You talk about doubling over my rod and peeling drag on 6lb test.. I made another cast ,another good bass takes it down, and another good fight on lite gear. I gotta make a bass finesse rod!,That was fun.

Looks like blast there buddy! UL fishin is the best. My little brother has caught some decent bass (upwards of 5 pound) bream fishin with a 5'6" rop and 2 or 4 pound mono!

Ultra-lite fishing is a lot of fun! A 1 lb bass feels like a giant, nice catch. I like the little popping cork jig too.

Boy, I can't remember the last time I fished ultralight. This post sure makes me want to give it a go again.

I love fishing with ultralight tackle. I have a few spinning reels loaded with 4 pound test. I have caught bass up to 5 pounds on it. I actually caught one 9 pound catfish on an ultralight rig. With light tackle & little lures you can almost always catch something.

Thanks guys...Yea I might start carrying that combo more with me. Just wish is was a touch longer. Marc, the reel is a Pflueger President micro spinning reel. ($50) and is a smooooth tiny reel...The rod is a custom I made early last year with a CRB blank..
