Default 7/4 fishing

We had some friends of ours up at our cabin with us for a few days last week and found a few decent fish.

Here is Kaye with an 18" Smallie that hit 3lb 4oz on the scale, her best SM of the year by 12 ounces.

Here is a friend of ours with the biggest walleye of his life -- 3lb 0oz and 19.75" -- caught using a 5" wacky-rigged senko on a dropshot!

Here is my new best LM of the year (by 1 ounce) at 3lb 15oz and 17.75".

We had never seen young loons this big still riding on the adult...

And I always like sunrise pictures. This one is from July 5th.

Love the photos! Especially the loons. A walleye on a wacky rigged Senko? Never heard of that before. Maybe your onto something new for walleyes.

We usually drag night crawlers (or leeches) around on a lindy rig when we're targeting walleye, so I guess a senko on a dropshot about a foot or so from the bottom of the lake maybe isn't all that different.

The really crazy one to me was my all-time PB that came on the first full day we owned our cabin back on Labor Day weekend in 2008. I caught a 25.5", 6lb 5oz walleye on a black clacker BUZZBAIT! It literally wrecked my buzzbait, and it was dark enough that I had no idea what it was until I got it to shore (I was fishing from our dock). I knew it was too long to be a bass, but I just assumed it was a pike until someone brought over a flashlight and we got a good luck at it. The 3 biggest pike and 2 biggest walleye we've caught in almost 5 full years there have all come from our dock.

He is 6'6" and 255 and will enter his senior season as a tight end for Winona State University (D-II school) this fall. When I'm up front and he's the only one in the back of our boat, I have to be careful not to get dumped out when he switches sides of the boat.

It's "only" Kaye's PB for this year. She has caught 4+ pound Smallies in the past. She and I are both still looking for our first 4 pound bass of 2013, although I've had a couple of close calls with 3.14 and 3.15 LM the last two times up there.

Dean, tell Kaye that all though that SM is a great looking catch her beauty dominates the picture still!
Congrates Kaye on a GREAT FISH!

I too am amazed at the size of the Loon hitchikers.
It's great to see the 'Resort' success pics!
