Ruined Fishing
I got some new lures form BPS the other day and went to the pond in my back yard today to try em out. I was walking around my pond throwing my new BOOYAH Super Shad Spinner Bait*, and I was barefoot, as usual so I could wade a little. anyways I went and stepped on a huge bee. Stung me right in the bottom of my big toe. By the time I walked.. or limped, i should say, back to the house my whole foot was throbbing. What a great way to ruin your day fishing. I just gope I'll be able to get back out tonight if it doesn't storm. * my new Booyah Super Shad Spinnerbait. so this was me fishing:

You can always clean the wound or bite when you get some, pull the stinger out if its in there,
then rub aspirin over the wound, and finally get some meat tenderizer and water into a paste and rub it over the wound/bite. the asprin acts as a anti inflammatory the meat tenderizer breaks down the proteins in the venom. so of sorts its a anti venom. easy to find in the house, and if you are allergic, comes in handy to know quick fixes. |

BB, Just a bee sting on the bottom of your toe? I've been searching for ponds before and ended up knocking into branches with bee hives on them, in most cases I ran for quite some time, in one case I came very close to jumping in the water, and on a few of the occasions I got stung up. But no way was I gunna go back without fishing, I rubbed water over the sting[s] and kept on fishing. Its the only way to go. Now what hurts even more is them big ole orange and black ants that are about an inch long. If they bite you, well its all over there is no way I would continue to do anything after that. It swells up real big and the pain doesnt go away for so long [bee and wasp stings seem to die down after a half hour or so] But these ants will keep the pain with you for a long time, and it sure does hurt!

BF02, we call those things cow ants here. I don't know if it's because they're so big, or because you bellow like a cow when one stings you. Either way, those are some bad mofos that are just about the toughest things to kill I've ever seen. Very hard carapace, I've had to crush them with big rocks/bricks before. Stomping on them usually just pisses them off.

Those are actually wingless wasps. They live a solitary...sniff...life in burrows rather than nesting in tree and under MY eaves. Well, Duhhhhhhhh! How would they fly up to nests? Some are quite furry, though not the least funny. Just remember this simple phrase; Wingless Wasps are FURRY, FlyRod is FUNNY. Easy, huh? FR PeeYess. Wanne see REALLY pizzed awf? Try to stomp on ME! |

Well Thanks for your wonderful insight RyFlod. I just certain gope they don't grow wings and start nesting under your eaves. that would be awesome... er... aweful... yeah, lets go with that.
I did catch the first spinnerbait basss out of my pond. I was slowroling a booyah super shad. He was 8-10 inches and not much girth so I didn't bother measuring. and its soo hot and humid I figure when I'm wetter than my lure, it's time to go in.

Customer of mine just got back from Amazon River where he fished from a big mother ship. 4 pairs of fisherman would take out the little bass boats towed behind it each day. Well there was pair of West Virginia boys who found this six foot tall black bees nest and started throwning sticks at it. No bees came out so they thought nothing of it. Later that evening they mentioned it to Capt and said they threw some sticks and stuff into it. The Capt left the table and pulled anchor and ran twelve miles up river. He cursed the two for doing that. The bees are noc-turnal and deadly. Like one sting deadly. On the return trip down the river several dead monkeys where floating in the area.

Wow. glad I did't step on one of those. actually I'm glad we don't even have those up here. but I would be one to throw a stick and try to make em mad. that is, if i didn't know they were deadly.
