Got another boat!
my best friend anthony and i have been beating around in my dads heavy gauge aluminum boat.. well we were thinking about maybe finding one sunken or something yesterday so maybe we could make a decent one out of it.. just hung up with him .. found one that was registered in NC..man said he came down here to sc to fish.. and had a pistol or something in his pocket and shot through it.. and sank it.. 12" and 41.5 inches inside rail.. said all the rivets were drilled out and bolted.anyone tried to make a pond prower like this baby here?
http://www.myjonboat.com/index.html were sorta thinking of that.. his brother has an older mercury 35 at his house.. might be too big but not sure.. its not that big so its probally late 80's. He also has a lake house at Santee but no boat or a dock since DNR fenced off lake acces there for some reason. It has a gate though . he said they beach their speedboat on the edge when they stay at the lake house. make that boat into a decent one with a motor on it and take it there.. wouldnt have a problem with picking it up for sure.. but anyway does anyone have any recomendations on what to do with it.. the bolts have to be taken out.. were considering fiberglassing over the bullet hole after we put some sheet metal over the hole and just glass it to the bottom. If we rivet the bottom might as well glass over them to be safe. Then what to do about the inside? The idea on that website seems great.. total of like 470 dollars into it.. probally can get stuff cheeper since anthony's dad builds cabinets and stuff. Only probem is no trailer so i'll have to call up my boat salvage guy and see if he has one that needs cleaning/sanding all in all the most expensive part of getting it was gas to drive the kubota xuv to the guys house to winch it out.. Free stuff is great

Not sure but couldn't you weld the hole up and maybe grind it back smooth.

if the alum is thick enough you can weld it. had a flat bottom once. it started to split at the seems, took it to a welding shop, and each time they tried to weld it, the split would get longer. cost more to weld it than to buy another boat, lmao. that's why if i ever get another alum boat..it'll be a welded boat to begin with. aircraft grade alum at that.
