Too good not to share.
Some of you know that I work at a car dealership. I wasn't aware of when this happened, but heard about it yesterday afternoon.
Some random person drove onto the car lot yesterday, selling laptop computers. He had a demostration model out, and several FedEx boxes in the backseat. He puts the demo model through its paces, and my general manager and a salesman end up buying one of them for $150. ***NOTE*** They never actually looked at the one they bought, they just checked out the demo. The guy takes their money and leaves. They bring the box inside, and don't open it till later on that day. Inside, there's three things; a black box that says "Dell" on it, a mouse-sized object, and a power cord, all wrapped up in bubble wrap. The problem is, the box and the "mouse" are sections of a 2x6 piece of lumber, and the power cord is a white extension cord. Caveat emptor.

The same van would sell giant super speakers. You would hear them and at 150.00 a set for Klipsch super speakers. How could you go wrong? You just knew they where hot..
The boxes had Klipsch logos and where the original boxes. Inside was a 2x4 box made out of old plywood... Capt Mike

Nice use of Caveat Emptor (buyer beware).
Who has seen a laptop for 170$ ever? It may sound cliche, but if it sounds to good to be true it probably is.

Every so often a couple of guys in a van try to sell unused stereo equipment from a job. They say there was more shipped than they needed. Never bit. I did buy a fancy watch from a guy when I was a teenager. Got it for 5 bucks. I still have the watch and it still works. He must have needed the money for drugs. Said he had to catch a bus and didn't have time to return it tp the store.

The GM, who just bought two pieces of wood for $170, called everybody together to SHOW THEM how he got suckered.
If I ever did something this stupid, which I seriously doubt will ever happen, NOBODY WOULD EVER KNOW. I'd throw that thing in the Dumpster and never mention it to anybody. But no, this clown tells 30-40 people about it. I need to sell him something. A pair of old socks with the toes missing, maybe...tell him they belonged to Hank Aaron or somebody...

We're a Mercedes/Porsche dealer, Bubba. We don't see a lot of Toyotas unless somebody trades one in, then they usually send them to the auction. I work in parts, anyway, so I couldn't actually sell you a car.
I do know a guy that works for a used car lot out in Brandon that got me the truck I'm driving now. Gave me a great deal. Let me know when you're ready and I'll put you in contact with him.

Man...this thread has me worried. I bought a St. Croix Legend Extreme from a guy for $240 shipped. Now I'm gonna have nightmares about opening up the rod tube and finding a broom handle.

Haha....his ebay rating was great, and with Paypal, my money is safe. If it's not as advertised, I'll get a refund.

On a similar subject...how about the TV adds where you buy one and 'get another one free...just PAY SHIPPING AND HANDLING'. Check on these REAL CLOSE!
For instance... A while back my wife ALMOST bit on the garden auger for me...comes with a FREE CORDLESS DRILL...JUST PAY SHIPPING AND HANDLING - except the shipping and handling for the cordless drill (this drill was prolly worth about $20 bucks) was close to $50 !!!! BUYER BEWARE

There's plenty of those out there. Remember about 10 years ago when some company was advertising on tv,all long distance calls up to 20 minutes only .99? You had to dial their number first, then the number you actually wanted or somethin. My roommate at the time mentioned how good a deal that is. Until I pointed out that calling for 1 minute is also .99
