Two Captains Report
After a charity fishing trip for the girl scouts was cancelled it left both Capt Dave and I some fishing time. We headed to our favorite spot this year, to find water temps at 68 and a bunch of Jr fisherman complaining about no fish caught all day. In Sept it can be feast or famine with those pesky LGMouth. Undetterd by the bad report we floated back on an extreme high tide. It took about 20 minutes to figure out they wanted hollow body frogs fished so slow that is was painful. Just a little twitch now and then. The hit so slight that often you thought your frog just slide under a pad. Concentration was intense as we very slowly worked the flooded ares. Probably missed 25 fish but landed 20. One small Potomac Pike was hooked and lost at boat. Tide got so high that I started using pop r's over the flooded weeds and pads. Even broke a rod on a chunky LGmouth.
Great fishing trip that we feasted on. And ribs and chicken are still great.. Capt Dave Capt Mike

That was just plain fun.. I need more days like that where I did not need to guide.
Some of the best spots had less than a foot of water on them. The frog would splash down and you wait till the rings are gone. One or two twitches and a V in the water would race over to the frog and nothing.. just plain nothing. So you know he is watching that frog. So you just twitch it a few times and an almost non-perceivable sip occurs and it is fish on. Weird but so much fun. Capt Mike
