Default Great Afternoon (lots of pics)

Even though it was cold today I decided to hit Upper Saranac for a couple hours this afternoon. I got on the water just after 3 and fished until almost 6, the best few hours I've had all year. I went to a very wind blown main lake point that I have never fished before. I started working the jerkbait and the bass were all over it. Largemouth were up closer to shore and smallies were out a little bit. Once that bite slowed down I went to the drop shot since I was marking a lot of big fish down 20-25' near the bottom. Like a video game, you see the fish, drop the bait on him, THUNK! It didn't always go that smoothly, but several times it did.
I finally decided to head in before it started getting dark and wanted to try to hit a point near the launch. I pulled up and came in with the trolling motor only to see somebody had beat me to the spot! I was the only boat on the 6,000 acre lake, but I did have competition from this bald eagle. It figures that I didn't have my camera today and the cell phone pics aren't that great of him. I let him hold his ground on the point and headed in.

Some pics:

The eagle is up near the wood

Here's a side scan shot of the point that held the most fish, you can see why you lose a lot of drop shot weights:

Usually the images are cleaner than that, I was playing around with some settings today.

Awesome day on the water, Bender. Those are some really good looking fish coming on the jerkbait. Could you explain a little of what the SI shows? I always seem to have trouble figuring out what exactly they show.

Water temperatures were 45-50 depending on the area of the chain and air temp when I got off the water each evening was around 32 at 6 P.M. Here's a few more pics from the weekend.

Wow, that helps out a lot! Thanks for taking the time to point those things out, Bender. Great scenery in those pics, too. Looks like a great place to fish!

Here's a couple videos of the SI on the lake, the boat position on the trial is in the lower left. On the first video I made a U turn and came back across the point a little farther out. I hope they work:
