Smile A little confused...surprise, surprise

http://fishfreakonline.com/tfogarylo...eriesrods.html

So does Loomis have his own rods and a Temple Fork line and Pure still uses his name on the old company he sold them?
Ya I know or not sure that Pure Fishing bought it but I know you guys do. But basically are there three different distinct lines or is Loomis' noncompete clause up and he just wants to make up for lost time and money?
Oh, are Temple Fork Rods made here in the states because my understanding is niether of the other two are?
If anyones used a Temple Fork Loomis signiture Rod, what do you think.
They are definitly priced right.

I own a TFO spinning rod...a FWS 664-1. Which is a 6'6" M F. I like it. Very nice rod for the cost.
My understand is that the non compete is up and Gary is building rods again. I've been told by two sources that he is involved in the build process himself. But I doubt that he's doing each rod. Made in USA but components may not be.....

Mfg tend often to include their name in their trademark or corp.thus ma and pa kettle are long gone and its still ma and pa kettles.Tom Mann bait company sold more lures after he didnt own it than prior.
fat daddys in standing rock bay, kentucky lake was sold again awhile back, still fat daddys
only warranty you get is no hole in the bottom of the glass
called capitalism, but at 200-400 per rod doubt if I ever will own a Loomus.

If I dont go custom on my next rod, tfo may get my business. I broke a flyrod in 2 places last summer and they replaced it for 25 bucks. Good customer service and at least with the flyrods, good rods.

Gary Loomis sold his company to Shimano back in 90's.

He recently opened his new company, North Fork Composites, selling only blanks. It was recently announced that he will be making rods soon as well.

The TFO rods are not his rods. He was just involved in the design process of the rods and blanks, but they are also not his blanks. Gary Loomis's name sells products (that's why Shimano tried to sue him not long after leaving the company when he tried to sell a product with his name on it). So get his expert input for the design process and stick his name on it.

This is the way I understood it too. North Fork Composites is his company and where his time and energy go. Gary Loomis is a blank designer first and foremost. He gave TFO some recipes and let them use his name. Look at the prices of NFC blanks and TFO bass rods, it will be obvious which one Gary Loomis has stake in.
