Default went fishing today

Well i went fishing today for the first time in over 3 months. It went very well. Hehehe..................
Ok, i haven't gone in a while like i said, so i didn't know what to expect. So i had a lizard rigged, and a crank rigged, also a jig and 2 spinnerbaits ready to go. Oh yea and a lipless crank too.
The temps were in the high 30's, water temp was around 56, fog coming off it. Clarity was somewhat clear, but dingy, around 3 feet of visualbility. It was going to be bluebird skies after the fog............and it was, lol.
I started with the lizard, fished it for and hour. alternating with spinnerbait and lipless crank........nothing. I moved along the edge of the grass line, around 3-6 ft water depth.
Then i got a hit............NAILED IT! It hooked itself, lol, really hit it so hard i just had to reel it in. A Keeper! 3 and a half pounds. Nice.
so i dumped everything else and concentrated on the spinnerbait. Re-rigged another rod with a spinner mallenmanson sent me (thank you man!). Threw it out, wham, another keeper. 2 and a half pounds. Very nice, 2 keepers in da rajun cajun.
Did nothing for another hour and a half. Worked the bank in another area. Threw out mallens spinner.............another wham, another 2 and a half pounder! Wow, 3 in the fryer now. Enough for dinner.
Worked the bank some more. About 50 yards from the last hit........Wham! Number 4, another 2 and a half pounder. Started to thinking i should go pro. Hahahahaha, nnnnaaaaaaaa.
Things started to get slow now, the sun was popping out and the skies were getting really sunny. Maybe a hour to go before it is too bright.
Wham! NUMBER 5! 2 pounds even. Into the well it went.
I sat back and reflected on the morning. Started at 6:45 am. Should've gotten there earlier. Bites stopped at 1:45 pm.
5 hits, 5 catches. Total weight 13 pounds even. Might have placed in a tourny. But no....i would've not even gotten a bite if i was in a tourny.
But it was great to get BACK out on the water. Had great time and caught bass. 3 largemouth and 2 spotted.
Thanks Mallenmanson for the spinnerbaits, caught 2 off of yours. And thanks Zooker, you told me to go with the spinners to begin with. But the thing is.....it wasn't right for the spinnerbait. Water was slick as glass. Funny huh?

Bama...that is AWESOME to hear you finally got back out on the water, and had a GREAT DAY!!! Sounds like you really slayed 'em with the spinnerbaits. Nothing like the feeling of setting the hook into a nice fish.

Where did you fish? I bet you weren't missing your beloved Guntersville today!!!

not funny..sane..stop beliving in the misconception that the water needs to be rippled for a blade to work.. some of my best blade bass hit when the water was slick as glass...

Hahahaha, yes i was on my beloved Lake Guntersvile. Lily pads and grass are dieing. And Zook, i believe you man. Just that it seemed like it was wrong to use a blade in glass top water. Now as for the pics................. got em on my phone. (Lisa had the camera with her, her grandmother is here till after Thanksgiving. She is taking as many pics as she can of her 91 yr old grandmother. Never know when she will pass on ya know.) But no cord to download em here. will try to get one today. Gotta take back my flat screen tv. NO SOUND! Had to watch Bama on the smaller tv. Talked ot a guy after loading up and he told me that a fella caught 45 bass on Friday. Typical....... a day most folks have to work. Hahahahahahaha.

I have to agree 100% with Zooker on this one. I have never had trouble catching bass with a spinnerbait on calm days. I think the real advantage with spinnerbaits on windy days is that they are easier to work with in wind tham many other lighter baits. Congrats on the good day on the lake Bama! ^5

What a great way to come back into it..Bama that sounds like a great morning!!!
Talk about being in a great mood the rest of the weekend, huh?
I'd give anything to catch 5 keepers in an outing..I need to get to out to Fork or Sam Rayburn lake...Just get away from these community ,over fished lakes.

Way to go Bama!!

That is a great way to start after some time away from fishing.

I love that line!

Glad to see you got out bama! congrats on the nice fish.

You probably wouldn't have gotten a bit if you were in a tourney lol, and if you took lisa with you, she probably woulda caught all those fish instead of you!

Nice catch, John! Glass Water or rolling ocean, it don't matter if you ain't there slinging something, you ain't going to catch anything! Glad to see you got back out there. My buddy from Tennessee and I spent two days over there the first week in November and had a blast in the dying pad stems south of Comer bridge, and yep we caught the dickens out of the spotted bass at the mouth of Roseberry creek on C-rigged Grandebass 4.5" rattlesnakes also (never ever pass up an opportunity to c-rig those mussel shell beds on either side of the mouth of Roseberry)!

Thanks Bob. Lisa and i were over your way the other day (thrusday), went and got the pontoon boat and brought it back home. We were gonna call you and come over, but had a blow out on the pontoon trailer. After we got it fixed, and the LONG trip (2 1/2 hours one way, we were so tired we just went on home.
But we did meet Chris and Dewayne for lunch. That boy Chris is crazy man.....wearing SHORTS when it is 30 degrees outside. Oh yea, ask him how he likes his new BAMA colored truck. Hahahahaha. Lisa is gonna put some more BAMA stickers on it. Ask him about that on his old truck. Hahahahahahaha.
