Default Man, I need a shrink!!!

The wind is howling at 35 mph, the temps are only 42 degrees, and it's raining. I have to be totally out of my mind to go fishing. But hey, I caught one. Actually, I was only out for about 40 minutes casting from shore. I went to BPS this morning to purchase a Pro Qualifier in 5.2:1 ratio casting reel to replace my David Frittz casting reel. It's mounted on a St Croix Premier crankbait rod, 7'mh/mod with Suffix Elite 12 pound mono. This is my outfit for larger cranks like the DD22's, and DT16"s and so forth. So I was actually just out casting fromshore to see how the new rig handled, and I'm happy to say it handled beautifully. Just before I left I tied on this Booya spinnerbait to make a few casts near a pier and landed this guy. Not very big, but a nice suprise for just a short tryout. Turns out, this rig handles spinnerbaits pretty darn good too!

Wind blowing from the west?

Nice looking bass, a little skinny though.. is it post spawn there already?

Glad you like the new rig, though!

Actually is was a hard blowing northwest wind and cold! Anyways, the spawn hasn't started here yet. It might by mid to late may if it ever warms up for more than 2 days. That bass is just a skinny male. He was hanging right up against a pier.
