Default How much has the monkey set you back this year?

I Just got around to adding up the totals from all the receipts I have saved from this year.

Before adding it all up I figured I had spent WAYYY to much, Much to my surprise I have only spent $286.12. Which really is not bad considering I bought 100 bucks or more in line alone.

I was thinking I spent so much more because I bought a ton of new flippin jigs this year and a new rod, But ultimately because I got them massively on sale I guess in the end I'm not doing so bad after all.

How about you guys? How far back has the monkey set you this year?

I refuse to answer this question if there is a remote possibility that my wife can read it.

I have stayed within the budget. I am fortunate that due to poker, I am able to allocate money to the bait monkey each month.

I added about 300 in crankbaits last winter, then a few hundred on new poles and plastics, just needed to update my arsenal for years, now its done.

Um...I spent about $15,000 on my boat and its associated equipment and fees, and about $1,000 on fishing tackle, assorted gear, licenses, etc. My butt hurts.

I dunno, probably around 200! I never keep receipts unless I bought a new rod, or reel!

So far I spent about $430, and all of that except for the 170 I spent on a reel was spent on tackle. Now I have twice as much stuff as I did last year!

I haven’t spent a whole lot this year so far. I’m always eyeing something though. All I really need to do is re-spool some of my reels. Shouldn’t cost too much though. I am also thinking about starting my own worm farm though. Mainly because there’s no way my wife will let me keep worms in the main fridge so they don’t rot, and my beer fridge in the garage gets way to cold and freezes the worms. It’s an older fridge that has an opening (via wear and tear) from the top freezer compartment to the regular refrigerator compartment. So the beer gets ice cold just above freezing, but water and just about any non-alcohol beverage will freeze if it’s not strategically placed.

Ive spent at least eleventeen dollars, maybe more. If I really knew how much money I spent on tackle Id probably quit fishing. Its kind of like taxes.

$1802.72

...and I might add that I haven't had a bit of "buyers remorse" either.

"I refuse to answer this question if there is a remote possibility that my wife can read it." Ditto
"I have stayed within the budget. I am fortunate that due to poker, I am able to allocate money to the bait monkey each month." My buddies have also been contributing to my obsession. Consistency has been my key. Not trying to break them though where they don't want to play anymore though.

I have tried to be good this year due to not having a steady income, but it has been way too much still. I think the Humminbird 997 put me a little over budget. Only need a couple more reels and I should be done.

You fly fish for them? If so, yeah that can get really expensive.

The other species that sucks up my baitmonkey money is musky. And the big like saltwater rapalas at 7-10 bucks are the cheap end of musky lures. The most I've paid for one I think was 25. but still.

Oh and don't ya hate it when you talk to someone that's really familiar with the lake you fish and they tell you some really good lures and you don't have them. Now you gotta go out and buy them.

Yep, my favorite is when they tell you the lure that they are killin them on and don't give you the color. Then you think you have it all figured out and get to the tackle shop and say F there are like 35 different colors here, so you rule out like 25 and by three of each of the rest and only like two are worth throwing once you find out what they are hitting! Sorry for the rant.
