Default Is my wife setting me up?

I came home yesterday fairly late in the evening. There was about 1 ½ of day light left. My wife was sitting on the couch and the house was quiet. A quite house is not the norm when you have kids and it’s summer time. Well, the kids were at Grandma’s. So half jokingly I asked my wife “you wanna go fishing?” She jumped up and said “let’s go!” like I had asked her if she wants to go to a novelty release party at Barnes & Nobles. I mean she was scrambling to find her clothes and shoes as though she was very aware there wasn’t much daylight left. I’m thinking to myself “He11 Yeah!”.

But then I got to thinking: is she setting me up for some event she’s going to ask me to go to? Like a Barnes & Noble novelty release party? Or go see some Love Story movie? Or go shopping for curtains and bed sets? Ah D4mn! I’ve been had.

Na man, she was just glad he wanted to go fishing instead of some afternoon delight -- but then again he said she had to grab her clothes

He didn't mention how long the kids would be at Grandma's though. I mean he only had a little while to fish. I understand, now that's thinking with your flipstick. Maybe she just wanted to see what you get out of it though. But yeah your probably screwed.

Have you seen that movie "Behind Enemy Lines," where the soldier steps on the landmine, but doesn't quite set it off? He can't move...just waiting for the inevitable.

That, my friend is you.

Fish, for your next post, all you have to say is "She got me." Nobody will ask what happened, nobody will poke fun at you, we'll all just raise a beer to you in sympathy and nod our heads knowingly. Because all us married folk have been there before, and we'll all be there again.

Having multiple marriages under my belt, I did not even have to read the story, just the title to nod my head and say Yep, you are screwed.
Maybe it will just be some 2.5 hour movie with Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves....of course, it could also be the day from hell at (fill in the blank)

All I can say is to make the best of the situation and don't let her read this thread; then you'd really be screw'd.

I donno man, If it was me and my husband in the same situation... i wouldnt be setting him up. Id be sitting there with everything turned off and all so that we could go fishing as SOON as he got home. I guess it depends on how bad she hates fishing.

Well, we made it to the pond, caught one catfish and then the rain came. To my surprise she actually wanted to fish in the rain. I thought for sure at the first rain drop she would cover her head and run for cover. But no, she kept right on casting until night consumed our ability to see the bobber. Plus lightning had started to make a presence.

But I’m thinking she might actually enjoy this fishing thing. Me and my brother went night fishing the other night while she went to the movies with a girlfriend of hers. After dropping her girlfriend off she came to the lake and fished with us for about an hour or so. We were using the night-light bobbers so she thought that was totally cool seeing it dive under water when a fish was on.

Oh d4mn! I know what you guys are thinking. Now she’s going to be popping up on fishing outings with the fellas. I may have opened up more can of worms than I wanted to.
