I have found the Musky really like top water and they really like 'bass baits'.
Remember that the musky is the 10,000 cast fish. When actually trying for any pike it can be challenging. The way I go about it is, put on your newest most expensive frog. Toss it on the edge of surface weed line and a PIKE BITE is almost guaranteed!

Impressive fish, PnJ.

One of these days I hope to be able to experience one.

PnJ, you might want to photoshop the downriggers out of your pictures unless you want to get people around here butthurt.

You will always see downriggers on my boat since 60% of my fishing is for lake trout and walleye.I do eat a few of the lake trout and walleye but the majority are released. All of the bass & musky that are caught are released.

They like spinnerbaits and bucktails. I don't get a chance to fish for them often since the closest lake with muskies is 3 hours away. I've only caught 8 and all of them came from 2 lakes in Missouri. Didn't have any luck on trips to Minnesota or Canada. They do like bass baits it seems. I caught 3 on squarebills and 1 on a spinnerbait and my buddy caught 2 on buzzbaits and 1 on a tube on a 3 day trip this summer.

Thats a nice looking musky for sure! I don't fish for musky around here. One of the best musky waters in the country however is just a couple hours from here. Some day I plan to try it out. I know when I watch the musky guys on tv, big surface baits and big bucktails are always popular.

Musky are quietly climbing up my hit list. Sooner rather than later I will tackle one.

Let me know Billy, I'm sure if you were to make the trip, it wouldn't be hard to fill a charter boat on Lake St. Clair. I even bet Bryce would come.

Hell, even our "home lake" has some massive musky. They're just a PITA to catch cause they're not hungry cause of the 50,000,000,000,000,000 crappie in the lake... Still, the DNR has pulled 50-60" musky out of it in the spring (it's a musky brood lake for MI).

I've caught two, both out of the aforementioned lake. The first was about 42" ~20-22lbs. The second was a little guy: 34". I had one hit a swim jig/paddle tail combo this summer, but it cut my line almost instantly.

I'll let you know Anthony, I'm working on some sort of summer idea while I study for the bar, it involves getting in the truck and driving.

Hey Billy, who knows maybe one of these days we can get together and try fishing for musky at Cave Run Lake Kentucky.

Location of State Record 47 lb. Muskie
