Too bad the jagoffs at MotorGuide can't figure out that you can't mount a bow mount transducer on their MotorGuide Wireless series trolling motors. Gotta buy the 'built-in transducer' series. Damn...

you would think that someone would mention this when you bought it. but they were probably just interested in your money i guess.

Zook, how often does the transducer get in the way? Why do you not mount yours thru hull in the front? I just had an old depth finder fall in my lap, so I'm gonna move the Eagle 300 to the front for fishing duty and use the old one for driving.

Oh yea. Whats the best way to mount the transducer on a motorguide wireless?

Mount the ducer on the bottom of the troller. Thats the price we pay as fisherman. Kinda like a new paint job on a car sooner or later someone is gonna get it with the shopping cart. WTL you cant mounta ducer on the inside of the hull in the front you have to have a flat level place to mount to so you get a proper reading.

Is this a smart-allec question? Didn't we already 'explain' this in depth?

Make sure to buy the TM with a built-in transducer!!!

Hey man, I had a transducer get broken off the other day. I must have hit something that caused this unfortunate mishap to take place. I had another that I haven't used due to the fact that mine is in the hull. Now it's time to find an extra on the Ebay. I just rapped that thing around the trolling motor pedestal and fished on. Granted, I turned the graph off !

ZOOKER (and any other interested parties)
Here is a suggestion on a troller mount similar to ZOOKERS, but mounted lower;
Drill a 3/8 inch hole in the skeg on the bottom of your TM about 1/2 inch below the main casting of the motor and about 1/2 inch back from the leading edge. Run a 2 inch long 3/8 inch stainless bolt thru the hole, and run a lock washer and stainless nut down on the bolt to lock it to the skeg. Slid your high speed style transducer on the bolt and lock it down with another lock washer and stainless nut. The leading edge of the skeg will protect the transducer from stumps and rocks, but it will still be below the TM. Depending on the brand of transducer, you may have to use two lock nuts on the bolt and then the transducer, followed by the lock nut to hold the transducer in place. I ran my 91 this way for several years and never did get it knocked off or torn up.

Check this site. (bpicinc.com)
Have a friend works for me that can do anything with metal. You could do it yourself if you know anything about metal art. I have them on the front and rear of my boats, they work. I've had to change out a couple but never have I lost or destroyed a transducer. I keep spares in my boat at all times.

Or sell it on ebay. You will be able to get close to its sticker price. Then get a TM that goes with what you got.

My trolling motor as well as transducer looks like it's been through hell and back. I've had to replace my transducer a couple of times but it's still putting out the power.
