Default Utility Boxes

Guys, boredom has me looking at finally replacing my ripped up tackle bag and getting a couple smaller ones. looking at the boxes that come with them, I keep running into issues with the nomenclature.

I know the Plano line pretty well, but not the ones I'm finding. Are the size 360, 370, etc. the same as the Plano 3600, 3700, etc? Is it just another manufacturer trying to let you know it's the same size without violating some trademark?

Not all the time, sometimes it means a different configuration of the slots inside. Those palstic tabs can go in different ways and there are just palin old differences in their lay outs.

Dom, I guess I should have added more info.

I'm not really worried about the box configuration....just the size. I already have a ton of Plano 3700 boxes. I just want to make sure that my boxes will fit properly in the new bags, is all.

I think the 360 and 3600 are the same size box, but as Ebbet said, the layout may not be. When I bought my last two bags, I bought them without the boxes and picked the boxes out myself. It's more expensive that way, but I just didnt care for the boxes that came with the bags.

The Cableas 360 and 370 are comprable on the outside as far as size to the Pamo 3600 and 3700., but the inside can vary greatly!

According to the measurements in this years BPS catalog, they are the same for the 370 and 3700. See pages 322 and 326.

Also; watch it with some of the Flambau boxes, they are comprable sizes but their snap locks are bigger and they can come off when you try to jam that one more box in

I don't get the BPS catalog. I couldn't find them on the website...oh well....I'll keep looking.

Ahhh...okay guys....finally found it. I didn't know that the 360, 370, etc. was BPS's numbering system. I'm sure they did that so Plano wouldn't stop using them to sell their stuff.

Guys.....I'm looking for a bag, not boxes.

One that fits the piles of 3700 boxes I already have.

I think I found what I want...a Plano 4470 for my bags of plastics, and a 4471 for my hard baits.

Must be some Brooklyn expression I'm not privy to.

Post #3 was pretty straightforward if that's what you mean.

Carnarsie is an area by the Ocean, pretty far from Manhattan, so many times when someone is in a rush to get to the city and they are let's say by the Brooklyn Bridge, they ould say and let's not go through Canarsie, meaning not taking the most direct route

Post #3 sort of sounds like you already have the bags.

Please explain to me what part of "I just want to make sure that my boxes will fit properly in the new bags, is all" sounds like I already have the bags.

It sounds like maybe you had just gotten some new bags and weren't sure what size boxes you needed for them.

However, had I more closely read this,
Quote:
"Guys, boredom has me looking at finally replacing my ripped up tackle bag and getting a couple smaller ones. looking at the boxes that come with them, I keep running into issues with the nomenclature,"
from post #1 I wouldn't have gotten that one wrong.

I have a huge plano guide series bag that i want to get rid of, i never use it. its a well over $200 bag, its got skids & wheels like a suitcase & is almost as big. its 18" wide & 30" long. it will hold 15 to 20 boxes. its in perfect condition. i was asking $75 for it.

Thanks, Brownbass, but that's the sort of thing I'm moving out of. My Flambeau bag had all that same stuff, extendable handle, rollers, etc. Weighed a ton....to much it ripped under its own weight (well, that and about 50 lbs of lures ).

I prefer the BPS 360 bag and 370 bag over the Plano bags.Better built imo (but swap the boxes out for plano or falcon)I have 6-370 boxes in my BPS 370 , plus two finesse binders and a jacket..Calcutta bags from west marine are real nice, I use Open Water Tackle bags for saltwater.
