How do you clean Rod Blanks ?
I have heard some say lemon pledge. I am starting to tear down some of my lesser used rods and reels , the reels will be sent to pro reel for cleaning , however my rods I will do myself. Do you guys use any perticular product ? What about the line guides ? I used q-tips and alcohol last year.

I always wipe down blanks with denatured alcohol. It cuts through grime pretty well and won't harm the finish on the blank.

I have always used warm tap water on the blanks, and use KVD Line and Lure Conditioner for guides. I clean my guides at least once a month, as it helps with casting and retreiving smoothness...

+1 on the denatured alcohol. I tried acetone one time and it stripped some of the finish off of a older rod.

Warm soapy water for me. Then I treat it to some turtle wax. I think it helps to keep the guck off a little better and makes them look new. Lamiglas recommends cleaning the guides with a toothbrush and toothpaste!

Bass Boat Saver - it's not just for bass boats anymore. One step clean and shine. Need to polish your rod give it a shot of BBS and finish off with a soft cloth. .

Denatured alcohol works well and is safe on finishes. A mild cleaner like simple green will work too. Try Mr Clean Magic Eraser on cork. Run a cotton swab around the guides to check for rough spots.

Warm water and dish soap, use this on the cork handles as well. Work's great and I have done this for a few decades without hurting any rods or handles

+1, I've done it this way for years. Simple and effective. Then I check my rod guides with a Q-tip to make sure there are no line damaging nicks.

Very similiar to the BBS for the rod blank. I use white toothpaste on the corks, leaves them clean and minty fresh.
