Hoosier, I believe it's due to the spawn. Funny thing is, when we have a normal Spring around here, the spawn is still going on once the season opens. Sometimes it hasn't even started yet. If we're going to have a season, I feel it should be on an as necessary basis. Last year is a great example. With the much warmer than normal temps we had, Spring fishing was absolutely horrible! The Bass had already moved back out into deeper water
