Default Brett Favre is retiring.

Just saw it on CNN. Most professional athletes, I wouldn't even feel the need to talk about it, let alone post on a message board, but that guy was special. Hope he finds retired life enjoyable, and that the NFL finds some other good leaders cause they just lost the best. Wonder if he goes back to mississippi.

Uh OK ???? He was paid to do a job.I think he excelled at his job so his mother didn't have to keep providing money for him. C-Bird chit.

Nice to see a guy go out near the top... Too many sports stars across the board hang on too long. Favre was no saint, and as a quarterback he was prone to a lot of forced throws, but his enthusiasm and passion for the game will be missed. An easy first ballot hall of famer!

we is one of the last of a dying breed....you could just see how much he enjoyed his job! anymore there are too many guys that are just going through the motions because they are making a ton of money either way. not saying they don't want to win but favre was just different and was fun to watch. wtl is right he was special and i will miss watching him on sudays. people can say whatever they want about the problems he had in the past but the guy was human and unlike a lot of athletes today, he didn't act like he was anything more than human. a great loss for the nfl and for football fans everywhere. i am a big steelers fan but favre has always been my favorite player.

hey the guy was great. and he is from the good ol south too. went to miss southern coll. beat bama as well. he is a regular guy, has problems like all of us here. and he has overcome them. i personally like him more than most other nfl players. he doesn't seem to have such a huge ego of himself. and he has grown as a man and player over the years. good luck in retirement brett!! now who will replace him? on the roster i mean. any possibilities?

He loved the sport and played with true passion. I hate to see him go.

I believe its Aaron Rodgers who is expected to start for the Pack next year.

Thats just gonna be odd to watch, but just like with Denver and Miami they had to get it over with.

Actually, when I watch Denver and Miami games I still almost expect Marino and Elway to come out the locker room.

So do I. Too bad Marino never got a ring. Same with Jim Kelly.

Marino is to busy off doin weight loss commercials to play football. And Brett Farve was a great quarterback I just wish he coulda got the NFC clinched and went to the Superbowl for his final season. The guy deserved it as he also deserves a spot in the Hall of Fame with the greats. The Packers have lost a great inspirational leader, as well as one of the best QB's in the league...

And poor Warren Sapp goes unheralded. The Monstrous sack machine? Anyone remember him?

Hey, I'm cool with cricket too. Sachin is just insanely good. My uncle loves the guy. Every year I go to India, I try to introduce them to football. They're slowly getting the ahng of it.

warren who??? kidding, cranky. he was good when he played with alot of help. then he went to the raiders. and they expected him to do it alone. that goes to show you that there is no "I" in team.

Eh, with the money Al Davis has been chucking around, I'd be surprised to see less than 7 wins.

Haha dalas can atleast get to the post season. Al is part of the problem, but you must say he does his best to fix it. if he wasnt so dead set on his old ways, the raiders would be 5 times the team they are now. A little more blizing, not always trying to stretch the feild, ect.

i talked to ken stabler once at an alabama game. he said that a statement he has on film was true. when he played it was "run for fun, throw for the dough". that was what al davis loved. it don't work in todays game much anymore.

Hey remember when that guy from green bay retired?

Don't know what to think about this saga. How can Brett want to play for another team, and how can his coaches allow this?

not that i'm a raiders fan or anything but they got darren mcfadden (arkansas). i tell you fellas, pay attention, he's special and will be someone to watch. providing of course that all the money doesn't wreck him off the field. all too common a problem in the nfl.

i admit i hate thinking of favre wearing anything but a packers uniform, i mean it always seemed like a perfect marriage between him and the packers. looking back it probably would have made more sense for him to wait longer before announcing his retirement and a lot of this probably would have been avoided. as it is i can see both sides of the story, it may be selfish but i want to see him take snaps as long as he still has the itch to play, even if that means it is for the vikings. it might be a little like michael jordan coming back and playing for the wizards, but i would hate to see him retire when the tank is quite on E yet.
