I haven't used the Omegas but the War Eagle Jigs are some of my favorites! There are so many good trailers, it's hard to decide sometimes. Hope they catch you some big ones!

Bunch of good jigs there. I am really liking Omega jigs a lot. After we shut down our jig company I still make some jigs but I have looked at a lot of different brands to try and find a favorite brand and Omega jigs are certainly high on the list.

Havn't used the War Eagle jigs, but I love the Omega jigs! Let us know how you like their comparison, ok? Also, how do you like the color of the jigs? I've ordered my share of jigs and skirts this year based on photos I see on line. Often, I am disappointed with the color of the jig or skirt I get as it often does not even come close to looking like the photograph posted on the website.

Keith- I'll provide y'all some feedback on the difference. May be a little hard as the Omega ones are suppose to be for structure and the WE's are for flipping. Sounds weird, but they how they were advertised. The Omega's head/hook angle is a little more "steep" where as the WE's seem to lay somewhat flat. Not sure what kind of play that will have. I am anxious to get out test them though.

As for the skirts I'm with you. Some of the ones I purchased the skirt color aren't as intense as they are online and vice versa. I'm not sure if I didn't read the descriptions well enough, but some of the Omega's had some tinsel in the skirts. Not a show stopper, but I don't foresee it lasting as long as the rubber, therefore, leading to the need of replacing the skirts sooner than needed with an all rubber skirt.

jrob- That is exactly why I haven't got any trailers yet. The selection is ginormous and can't make a decision. So I figure if I go to my local tackle shop with a very slim freshwater (I live on the coast so everything revolves around saltwater) selection I'll be forced to make a decision and hopefully not screw myself.

carolina- If one wanted to try and pour/build their own jigs where would you suggest they start? I'm very interested and would like to learn. I think it could be a fun hobby...

Searching this site is what lead me to the Omega's and WE's. Dirtyjigs and Northstar came and were on the forefront as a possibility as well. I have declared this year to the jig. I won't fish it exclusively, but I want to learn it and learn it well. Plus my favorite rod and reel is a jig and frog set up. I'll throw anything on it though

Getting started pouring jigs is pretty easy and not too expensive. All the stuff you need can be bought at places like Janns Netcraft or Barlows, both of these stores can be found online. You will need a melting pot, and I recommend one that has a pour spout rather than using a laddle (Lee melting pots are as good as any). You will also need to buy molds for each head style you want to pour. Then you will need to get the hooks that fit into those molds. If the jigs you are pouring are weedless then you will need to get you some weedguards that are the size that the mold takes. You will need lead, some guys will buy lead ingots online and other like to use lead wheel weights. Wheel weights are usually free but they are harder to use because they are dirtier and have a lot of metals in them aside from lead. From there it's all up to you and what you want. If you want to powder coat your heads then pick you up some powder paint and also don't forget to buy your skirt material, skirt bands, and a skirt making tool. You can get by with using a ball point pen that you removed the ink cartridge from as a skirt tool but it's more difficult and skirt tools are pretty cheap. I know that it sounds overwhelming but it's really not nearly as complicated as it sounds. I will say that you need to pour in a ventilated area because your dealing with lead.

There is a lot of information on the internet about how to build jigs and if you decide to get into it you can always come here for help. There are a handful of us on here that make jigs and between all of us we can probably answer about any questions you might have.

For trailers you are going to get tons of opinions on what to use. My opinion is to pick a handful of styles that you like, maybe 3 or 4 total with a few of them giving a lot of action and a few of them being streamline with very little action. This will allow you to have a trailer for whatever conditions your fishing. Somedays a trailer that has a lot of action like a baby brush hog or a twin tail grub will get you bites, and then other days you may need to fish slower with less action and something like a beaver bait or a chunk would be a good trailer to go to. If you just pick a few styles you will be much less likely to get confused when trying to figure out which trailer to throw.

I don't use chunk trailers nearly as much as I do whole craw baits. I prefer to thread the trailer all the way on the hook instead of just hooking through a chunk. You can do that with most chunks but they don't stay put quite as well. That's really just personal preference though.

My favorite trailers are the Havoc Deuce twin tail grub and Chompers twin tail grub, Chigger Craws, Rage Craws, Zoom Ultra Vibe and Super Speed Craws and beaver baits. I like the Zoom Ultra Vibe Chunk, Super Chunk and Salty Pro Chunk when I use a chunk type trailer. The different craw baits are the baits I use when t-rigging a craw so they get double duty as trailers. I also know a lot of people really like the Paca Craws and Paca Chunks so those would probably be good to try too. So many choices...

Overall look wise the WE's seem to be constructed a little better, performance wise I can't speak to 'em. I'll provide some feedback once they each get a fair shake in the lake (no pun intended, well maybe a little )

See jrob you just killed it for me! I had my mind set and then you and go and do that! Kidding...

Maybe I'll just tell the wife for father's day I want to call TW and tell them to send me one of each trailer they have in each color and go from there...that'd fly over like a lead balloon!

Black and blue ugly otter with peanut butter and jelly color jig skirt seem to be dynamite hawg killers in the south, really imitates a bream and bass just kill it

I own and use allot of the War Eagle jigs, they are a good bait at a very fair price. For trailers I like the Rage Craw for a craw type trailer I like the KVD perfect plastic chunk for a chunk style trailer.
