I hope they're better than they used to be. I bought them when they first came out. I think it was in the 70s or early 80s and I just kept breaking them and sending them back until I finally got tired of it and gave up. They've got to be better now or they would not have survived this long.

Yur a better man than me. I was lifting 5 and 6 lb stripers in the boat with them and they kept snapping. I'd send them back and they'd send me a new one. I got tired and quit. I never bought another one.

I own a newer one too. I like mine as well. 6'6" MH. I still have an OLD 5'6" one in the garage. Haven't used it in years though.

I only Lighting Rod I own is a 22" ice fishing rod. Nice little setup for hard water fishing, and at only $20 for the combo, I'm getting another next year.

My 7' medium old school solid flat black one is sitting at the bottom of Matagorda bay as we speak. I have never found one to replace it with.

Default Berkley Lightning Rod

ubf300,
I've been catching bass on this rod for several years. It does a good job for the price. Glad someone got a good deal at Wal-Mart! Good fishing to you.

It's nice to grab up those deals, last night I picked up some YUM soft plastic creature baits and riverside brand (Walmart cheap version) plastic for .97 cents a pack. I used the riverside brand some last year, it's pretty soft and durable. There' s also a little variety. Didn't notice a significant difference between that and my namebrand stuff, except the price.
