Default Is it me or pretty much everyone here?

So I go fishing over my lunch hour just about every day. Today I took a late lunch and went fishing. I just bought some Berkley Powerbait Power worms and these are the best worms I’ve ever used. I’ve bought different brands because they were cheaper and I had a few extra dollars on me. But I digress. Usually after I come back from fishing I head down to the cafeteria to grab a bite to eat. Well after using this Powerbait Power worm I just have to grab another pack in a red color. I’m going to a lake tomorrow after work that I caught my first bass using a Texas rig. The worm was one of those cheapos with a red tail so I know they will crush this power worm. So instead of eating lunch today, as hungry as I am, I decided to starve so I could spend my $5 on another bag of Power worms.

Is this normal behavior for anglers? I’m worried that fishing will overtake my life if I’m willing to starve instead of eat. I almost feel like I have a gambling habit that’s starting to reveal itself by my unusual behavior.

Normal. No.

Last night I sacrificed a young calf in anticipation of a successful weekend trip. I shall use the blood as fish attractant, well, that which I dont drink.

Of course it's normal....and a good financial investment as well.

If any of your friends (if you have any after you abandon them to go fishing 24/7/365, but I digress...) should comment about your new spending habits, ask them this:

Do you remember the sandwich you ate on March 12, 1979?

No?

Well, I remember the bass I caught on that date like it was 5 minutes ago. Every single second of it. Who says money can't buy happiness? Now go feed the monkey.

Normal ?!!..... Yes you'll find all sorts of thrifty ways to cut corners to feed the bait monkey!
I found the mrs. anniversary present in the dumpster the other day! That gave a $100.00 to the bait monkey!

Disclaimer....... the following may not be true.

I have sacrificed many things to the fishing demigods, food, gear, small animals, a neighbor I wasn't very fond of, and best of all the girl I took to the junior prom in 1985... So yeah skip lunch for a bag of worms, pretty normal.

I sacrifice sleep on the rig to stay up and play poker to have extra money for BPS on my way home. It is a gamble, but I have faired well the past couple of months. And instead of buying water on the way home, I drink water from the pump dispensers you fill your radiator with.
It's like that no win situation on the water. Your tired and wore out, but if you are eggin, you want that one fish and you stay. If you are tearing them up, you have to stay until they quit.

The monkey is the only one who needs to eat, and Soon you will just KNOW it is normal!! Feed the monkey and all is well with the world!
It is when you go againist nature and starve the monkey that your problems begin.

You just need to tame the monkey - oh, he'll get rambunctious here and there, but keep him under control.
Try and remember, baits just catch fishermen, not fish.... then again, if they're not bitin, yer not catchin and one more new, shiny bait to throw just might do the deed!
