Weekend pics

We can only fish for panfish right now in MN, so we tried our hand at some crappie fishing from the dock up at our cabin this weekend. I was throwing a small marabou crappie jig and my wife was using a crappie minnow on a Flu Flu jig under a bobber.

First fish of the year at our cabin - 1lb 12oz LM (and first self-photo of the year!)

Biggest LM of the weekend - 2lb 6oz - caught by my wife, Kaye

Only crappie of the weekend - 1lb, 8oz, 12.0"

Biggest fish of the weekend - 3lb 8oz, 17.5" Smallie (nice "stocking cap hair"

)

I also caught three Largemouth that were all under 2 pounds.

So...the 5 bass I caught in Iowa the last weekend in March, plus the 4 bass this weekend give me 9 for the year, meaning I'm only 991 bass behind bluebasser for 2012!

Yep, anticipation is really ramping up now! We'll do some walleye fishing up there a couple weekends from now when that season opens, the following weekend I'll be bass fishing with my dad and uncle in Iowa, and then the BIG ONE the weekend after that...8 FULL days at the lake starting with bass opener on May 26!

Nope, still swimming around the lake...too cold, too tired and too lazy to clean one fish.
