This cabin fever thing is gettin old!
I've been patiently waiting here for spring in spring even though I can't fish till Bay 5th. But hey, at least it wont be freezing cold anymore and well once again of bon fires and baseball to keep us all busy. Been reading my old BASS mags, and watching fishing videos to cope with the pain...
So what's yalls game plan for the first trip of the year? What techniques usually work well for ya when the ice is fresh off, or your season starts (when ever it maybe). Depending on if I got wind or not, I'll either start out throwing red Red Eye Shad or Suspending Rouge, and a Red Finesse jig if the water's calm... gonna be a long wait, but should be well worth it.

Sucks moving North, eh Boss?
Immediate catch n release opens the last Saturday in April. so I'll be targeting panfish before then, but when I can target Bass, lipless cranks, hands down. Aruku Shad, Aruku Shad, Aruku Shad......Oh...did I mention....Aruku Shad?

If I see some of them Arukus on sale somewhere though, I might have to get a "few" to sample.

Yes I've been dying for spring to come. I started looking at fishing vids a few weeks ago and boy was that a mistake, it just made it much worse.
The other day it was pretty warm out around 45* and I went out "fishing" for a little bit. It was more like practice, but it was nice to just be able to "get my lure wet" lol Cannot wait gonna be getting a kayak so I can finally get out on the water. Getting all new baitcasters, rods, and tons of new baits soon. Cannot wait!! EDIT: Just looked at those Spro Aruku shad cranks, those are nice lookin baits at a nice price point. |

10 bucks? Wisconsin must be keeping their alcohol sales low, by raising the price of baits! lol
They're 6.99 around here. Gander near me has the red ones at half price. I'm heading to TC tomorrow most likely and I'll be buying a couple of the red ones. If you're gonna give em a go, I highly recommend green shiner. Hands down my best producer. Perch, Blue Shiner and Firetiger are pretty good as well, but Green Shiner is awesome. Really a confidence bait for me at this point. Park in the shallows, and cast out past the dropoffs. They'll hammer it when it's bouncin off the ledge or bottom

Like a Monk watching porn, ain't it? lol Any particular Yaks you're looking at? I've got the Ascend FS12T from Bass Pro and I like it a lot. There's definitely better Yaks out there, but at the $500 price point, I'm very happy with it

Get yourself a second hobby Sammy. That's what I did. And although I have something to do during the winter, I have less money to spend on fishing stuff...

Besides being busy as hell at work, I started playing an online video game just to keep my mind off of fishing. Hopefully, I will reach Spring with at least half of my sanity intact.

I'd be willing to pass (posibly) on the Arukus, to nab the Excalibers for 5 bucks. At least to try them out. The Red Eyes....not so much

But ya im still looking, dont even really have the bread for it yet either. Im gonna take a look at that Ascend. EDIT: Just took a look at one of those Ascend Angler, those are pretty slick. All good reviews to, that might be in the running. The nearest BPS is probably ~8hrs away, but the price on shipping those suckers aint terrible at $95. Thanks for pointing those out Mallen. |

I took a ride to the lake yesterday, and with this weeks weather forecast, I think the lakes will be about half open by next weekend. Might try casting from shore then even though temps are supposed to drop by friday again. When I do actually get on the water in my boat after ice out I'll have a hard jerbait tied on along with a lipless crank, jig n pig, chatterbait, spinnerbait and a medium diving crankbait. And the percentage of each being used in the same order.
