I actually use a brass bead for both my Trigs and Crigs. The bass seem to like it either way, till I cross their eyes.

s recommended(by someone on this site) to use Tru-Tungsten Force Beads because they emit a louder sound. And They do, especially against another tungten weight.

Mariner,

I almost ALWAYS use a GLASS bead between the weight and worm.
I also peg the bead, using a rubber(?) Peg-It(TM), so that the bead will protect the nose of the worm and the knot. I let the weight, either tungsten or brass, slide freely so that there's an audible (to the fish) "clack" when slack is taken up.
The weight of the bead might also make it possible to cast successfully with a lighter weight than might otherwise be used. For example, one of my most effective rigs is a 4" ZOOM Dead Ringer, a 2/0 Gamakatsu G-Lok hook, a pegged glass bead, and a 1/16 oz tungsten bullet weight. This combo can be deadly in clearer water and is a snap to cast with the proper rod, reel, line, combo. I use a Team AllStar 785C (6'6" Medium/Fast) rod with a Shimano Chronarch 50MG, #20 PowerPro braid, and a 6' leader (P-Line Fluorocarbon Leader Material) attached via the J-Knot.
The small extra amount of the bead improves the castability of the rig.
Note: Don't buy the over-priced glass beads found at Academy or BPS. Instead, go to a hobby store and buy the beads normally purchased by folks making necklaces and the like. There are some amazing colors and several sizes (lets you match the diameter of the bead to the head of the worm for better protrection OR add a tiny bit more weight.)
ALWAYS peg the bead. Otherwise you have another "pivot point" in the rig and that can reduce sensitivity and hooksetting ability.

Good Luck!

good idea. I do it to protect the knot from the weight.

If you are about to do that then think which sinker material gives you the best clacking noise, lead sinker and glass bead has very little clacking noise, brass or stainless steel sinkers are a lot better and tungsten sinker is the best.

You may say that a tungsten sinker is too expensive, well if what you are after is a strong clacking noise then a tungsten sinker is not too expensive.

Be shure to purchase glass beads, plastic beads and nothing are about the same.
