Default Fishing VA

Hey All,

Looks like I may be getting a shot to go home (Virginia) for a week and get my company to pay for it. I should have two days in the Quantico area and two in the Norfolk area with two days in between that are for me. I HAVE to make a trip to see my folks, but believe that I can get one day of fishing in. Along with evenings at both stops.
The question would be where should I go and what tackle would you suggest. I will bring two rods, bait caster with 30 lbs braid and a spinner with 8 lbs mono. (Of course I can restring) I just don't think I will be bringing a full tackle box. I grew up in the Shenandoah Valley, but haven't fished anywhere out there in a decade.

Thanks for any input.

Only one place to fish in VA in the Quantico area........Potomac River. Hands down the best place to catch 12-20lbs a day this time of year.

If you are going to Norfolk you better take 64E or else you'll end up in NY or Tenn on 81. VA Beach and the Bay bridge would be the destination if you're heading to the Naval yard. Do a little salt water fishing. Capt Mike should be able to put you on some fish or at least someone that will you can call.

I have all the rods lures and ribs/chicken you can use. What dates are planning to come thru the VA side?

If you go down to Norfolk then contact Chris Newsome in Gloucester area for a CBBT trip.

I have to go the long way (81) If I make it to VA and don't stop to see my Mom there would be hell to pay. I haven't been back in 8 or 9 years now.

Thanks Mike, the dates are a little up in the air right now. It might be two weeks, or I could end up out tomorrow....gotta love the Government.
