Default A surprise catch

I took my son out on Sunday for a couple of hours to go after trout and bass. I managed a couple of small trout and my son managed a few break offs. I am still trying to convince him that landing a trout on 2 lbs test shouldn't be treated as though he has a marlin on the other end.

Sadly, my son finds fishing frustrating boring and yesterday was probably one of our last trips together.

The one bright side was a surprise catch early in the morning. I was filling the water bobber. I had a 2 foot leader and a bare hook in the water while I did so. After the bobber was filled, I couldn't figure out what I had snagged the hook on. Well, it was this.

I haven't gotten one so shallow this late in year before.
