Devistated
Short and simple, I lost 2 rods today, they flew out of the boat.
They were a Diawa Zillion and a Diawa Sol both on Shimano Crucial rods. Both setups bought within the last 3 weeks. |

Thats always tough to stomach. I lost an Abu Morrum once, stayed near the spot and drug the bottom with trebles for 3 hours trying to get at it. I was sick.
You just gotta pick up the pieces and move forward, same as everything.

That's a bummer! I lost one last year. We got into some rough water on the river and bounced one out. Luckily it was an older one of mine! Sorry man... that hurts!

oh man. That really isn't good. I did that once or twice, but was lucky enough to have shallow enough to reel a crank up to the rod tip and dig with the trebles.
better luck. |

My lost rod and reel story turned out better a few years ago, but there is always hope. My buddy was standing up in the 12' Stump Jumper, and lost his balance and fell out. When he fell he grabbed the boat on the way out and snatched it to the side and I rolled to the side and to the back. The boat didn't flip but it started taking on water in the stern. I latched my box and threw it up front, and tried to loop a rope around my rods and reels. And then I tried to jump to the front of the boat and level it out, but it had too much water, so I bailed out. I finally got the boat drug up to the bank, all you could see was the top piping of the boat and my buddy was just dog paddling in the middle of the pond. I said are you going to help me our what. He said you ain't gonna beat on me are you, and I told him no, accidents happen. I got to admit though, when I saw my reel missing I could have clicked his teeth a time or 2. Plus there was a 8-9' alligator on the other side of the pond sort of eyeballing the ruckus. Well I lost a Castaway rod and a Citica. I threw for it about 2 hours after we got all our worms and stuff picked up that were floating around the place. I forgot to mention, I didn't latch the bottom latch on my over-under tackle box and everything floated out of the boat. Well, about 2 months later I was fishing with my nephew and passing on the story and I saw a sour grape Zoom 5" lizard sitting on a clump of grass in the middle of the pond(I remember like yesterday). I picked up the lizard and there was a line running through the head of it. I started snatching in line and thinking what are the odd. And low and behold, here came the tip of the rod and the rest covered in grass. Although the reel has been out of service for a while, I cleaned it up and I let the rod dry out. I probably used the reel another year or 2 and I am still using the rod today.

It sucks because that was my 2nd Diawa Sol. I had just replaced the last one because someone stole it. I ordered a Shimano Curado because of the price to get me by, I hope its a decent real as I have no history with Shimano.

I don't think you will be disappointed bro. Might not be the same as your used to, I haven't picked up a Diawa in years. But they are the smoothest I have ever used and all mine have had good longevity.

Sorry to hear about your lost. Said to hear about a water death.
I got lucky last year when play around in my boat making to jump around to piss off the water skiers when my back up pool started its jump off the side of the boat, just then my buddy learns forward and grabs it from a watery death. Just say I let him catch more fish then me that day. |
