Default What time of year should the Bassmasters Classic be held?

When the Bassmasters Classic was first created, it was held in Fall. Then, from 1983-2005 it was a Summer event. In 2006 the Classic moved to Winter. My questions is...

What time of year do YOU think the Classic should take place?

I vote fall, it's a good time to catch some bigguns! And it's right before the spawn so the bass should be hungry!

Next would be spring!

Fall right before the spawn? Bass spawn in the spring when the water temp reaches above 60 ish. I know some places there are 2 spawns a year but for the most part its in the spring when the water first warms.

I think it should go back to the summer. I think that would make it a bit more of a challenge.

i voted spring but it would be cool if they changed it each year.... that would give different conditions and really see whos is the most consistent..... i voted spring b/c the temps could wreck havoc whether they were bedding or in post or pre spawn, which would be fun to see how the pros react

I voted summer because the weather is more stable and the fishing is typically a little tougher. I'd rather see them grind it out then a slug fest!

Fall is the best time - October - since most bodies of water in the US can be fished. In the spring they are limited to only the lakes found in the south (Florida basically) without the threat of big cold fronts. Matter of fact I hope they have the nastiest weather possible. Why have a championship at the beginning of a season???? Pretty stupid idea.

i say this with the utmost conviction.. "if they are as good as they claim and good enough to be a pro. then they need to put up or shut up in the dead of winter"

You mean like in the winter in south fl! -- the spawn should be this month

But any way! Your completely right, I was think wrong they gonna be eating for the winter... not the spawn!

My bad!

I like the idea of it being held in the fall or early winter. It should be like the Super Bowl of bass fishing. The final BIG event of the year.

I agree with this statement..But, I think this time of year is also perfect because everyone that thinks about fishing at all is more excited about it right now than they will be at any other time of the year. Cabin fever is working on all of us hard. By the end of the summer we have fished and fished, a lot of us start thinking about deer season and football.

The FLW Cup is in the fall, which I agree is good timing. I guess my point is that right now is the time when people just get crazy about fishing. Fishing shows all over the country....fishing sales and bass pro...you know..

The Classic is the superbowl of bass fishing, but who says the superbowl can't be at the beginning of the year? I don't really see it as a "winter" even as mentioned above, even though I know it technically is. But they usually hold it on a southern lake with water temps climbing in the 50s and bass moving shallow for pre-spawn...

Anyways, theres an argument both ways.

I voted summer but also the dead of winter would be good too. Let's see how good these guys really are under tough conditions.
