Default Problems with Livewell Control Valve

I own a 2003 Nitro 700LX and am having problems with my livewell control. Near my throttle, is the control for empty and auto. Auto should not let the water out of the livewell, but last Friday my son and i were about to leave the lake and i noticed that water was draining out even with the control in the auto position...I have done this before, and run the livewell on the way home to keep my fish alive...my question is, does the valve and livewell pump come out as a unit or can you remove the valve by itself? any help would be appreciated...

I have a new-to-me 2001 700lx, and I think I have the same problem. I wasn't completely sure of the operation of it, but common sense tells me that it should work that way, and now based on what you say I know it should.

I haven't played with it yet, but if I find anything out I'll let you know. It's suppose to be warm this afternoon, so I think I'll break out the hose and take a look at it.
