BASS Open angler murdered in MS.
BASS is having an Open tournament on Ross Barnett in MS this week. A man entered in the tournament and his wife were staying in a motel in nearby Jackson, MS. The man went outside to investigate someone messing with his boat and was shot and killed. RIP James "Jimmy" Johnson.

That makes me sick. No doubt a drug addict looking for something to sell to support his habit. I hope they get that SOB and give him the max!

RIP James Jimmy Johnson. Makes me sick. This is still a tough, hard world. Praying for his family.

I can't even tell you how sick that makes me.
Heard about it yesterday but couldn't find an article about it or specifics. Anyone who's tried to sell used fishing equipment knows.....very little money in it. Friend who owns a pawn shop said you can't get crap on a fishing setup. So a great man is killed for litterally nothing. Prayers and candles going out!

Being very close in age to this couple, I cannot imagine the hubby and I going off to a tournament with high hopes and having something like this happen. I just don't understand how our world has come to such a state that you are literally not safe anywhere, anytime. So, so sad. Prayers going up for the Johnson family and all those touched by this tragedy.

Sorry to hear that. If they find the thief maybe he'll commit suicide by cop.

They have a 17 year old kid in custody for the shooting, I think he confessed. This kid took a mans life, forever altered many more people's lives and has completely destroyed his own life. What a freaking waste.

I hope hes tried as an adult other wise slap on the wrist.
I take off my electronics and bring in the room, cant bring in all my tackle, but sleep light, and wont just walk out empty handed. No wont shoot anyone for stealing, will for attempting to take my life, then wont care at the time how old they are or what color they are. Im leaving for clarks hill end of the week,32acp in left hand jacket pocket,9x17 mak sob,45 in the door frame.Leave at night arrive by daylight,be a wrong vehicle to carjack or try to take my weeks money to run on,not silly enough to carry it all on me.And where its stashed its with another gun.Not a gun nut just love life particularly my own. The problem lays in the fact a 17 year old had it,wasnt exactly a legal purchase now was it,yet tighter gun controls are the result, meaning those that qualify make it harder for them. |

I rarely if ever felt this way, think this way, but the only solution to this tradgedy is 'an eye for an eye'.
Be damned if the tax payers should pay approx. $30,000 a year to cage a worthless animal for 50+ years!!!! Let him continue to brag about it all the way to Hell!!!! My apologies to anyone I may have offended by my comments!

Man that just makes me sick. I am so mad at what this country has become. A 17 year old kid will shoot someone just to get some money. The fact is your taking the life of someone with a family and ruining all there lives just to get some pieces of paper. I totally agree with joedog in this situation. People have to pay to keep someone who just murdered an innocent man alive. I can't even come up with words to how mad this makes me. I just hope this kid gets whats coming to him.
