Default New PB and Personal First!

Had a personal first and personal best today. Today my buddy and I decided to take a change of pace and visit a local pond we haven't been to since last September. I have usually had some success there with a few fish in a few hours averaging about 1-1.5 pounds but most smaller. This pond requires about a mile hike in along a nature trail which means it isn't heavily pressured which usually means a fun day. Little did I know what to expect today. I had my new favorite spinner bait already tied on my baitcaster, a Strike King in white, and was rearing to go when we got to the pond. My buddy was didly dadling along getting his rod set up so I reared back and heaved my lure out just past the midway point of the pond. My buddy then proceeds to tell me I'm an a$$ for casting before he was ready but before I could even mouth a reply I was 3 reels in on my retrieve when my spinnerbait got WALLOPED and the only thing that made it out of my mouth was HOLY !@#$!!!!! Got Her ashore about a minute and a half later and I just kept saying....."That is the biggest bass I have ever caught." Weighed her up and lo and behold I had my new Personal Best bass on the very first cast of the day which is also a first for me. She tipped the scales at 5.4 pounds with a belly that was a sight to behold and barely held still for the weighing let alone the required picture. It was almost 4 hours ago and I am still grinning and just keep nodding my head going "Damn this feels good." Sorry for the rambling, I just can't help myself.

Only caught one more about 2 hours later at a different pond after giving up at that one. A hefty 6 ounces lol. I knew it was going to be a SLOOOOOOOOW day when I get a 5+ pounder on my very first cast lol.

The rest of the day may have been slow but at least you got to spend it out and caught a pig none the less .

First of all congrats on the Peanut Butter Pan. Nicey piggy. But the lower disturned me. More to fishing than catching fish MP. Get a full time job, get married, have a few ruggers, and throw a few of lifes problems on there and you will see what I mean.

not true...they dont all bed at the same time...when the first ones go on the bed, some are still in pre spawn mode...when they go on the bed, the others are in post spawn mode. they are more than likely, never ALL going to be on the bed at the same time.

That's how you should always fish, and that's how I do it! Be the bass!

Small world man. Nope that is the County Pond behind the Montgomery County Airpark about a 15 minute walk back from the industrial park. My buddy Ryan and I try to make it out about 2 times a week either there or up at Kentlands Ponds. Hit me up with a PM and maybe we could get out there at some point. http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&ie...04828&t=h&z=18
