Shipping charges RANT
I thought you all might get a chuckle out of this.
On 5 November, I sent a package from San Diego to Yuma Arizona via DHL for work Two weeks later, the person in Yuma let me know that they had not received it yet. I looked up the tracking number and could see that this 4lbs package had bounced back and forth between San Diego and Phoenix twice. I called them and confirmed the address once more. (It was correct BTW). A week later they call me to let me know that since they are going out of business i the US, they no longer deliver to Yuma. They have turned the package over to the US postal service for delivery. Not a big deal, but it has still taken 3 weeks to deliver at that point. I had a USPS tracking number, and once again could watch my package make the trip from Phenix back to San Diego and then back to Phoenix once more. This morning, I received a call from the post office that there was a package there for me. I went down, and sure enough it was my west coast traveling package. I shook my head and reached for it. That is when the lady at the counter let me know that DHL had not paid them enough postage and I had to pay them the $6.00 fee (I call it a ransom) to get my package back! I called DHL, and they are stating that their system shows the package delivered and feel that they have done their job. I of course have filed a dispute.

That's dumb, if you've already paid them, and they're not gonna deliver it, they should pay for it to be delivered USPS...

Which is another reason DHL sucks and I am glad they are stopping their rotten service in the U.S. I have always despised DHL

Just too many delivery companies trying to compete, and cutting prices to get your business. The end result is usually like what you experienced. Come to think of it, almost any industry or service you deal with has too many companies competing for your business. All claim great customer service, few can deliver on that promise.

I had a UPS package bounce around NJ and NY for a week not long ago. I contacted the company and got the tracking number. I finally called (See Above) to find out why it was going all around NY and not heading south. Seems they couldn't find VA on the map or something but I did get it by the next day and it was hand delivered by a special courier. Talk to the right person and things get worked out...
