Default It’s been a very, very, long time since…

I made one of these:

I had a chance to go out a while back for a couple of hours in some seriously cold (for me) temperatures and this was the only thing I caught. The photo doesn’t show how nasty it really was. It was my last cast for the day and instead of making an underhand cast as I was going earlier, I felt I was “slick” and “expertly seasoned” enough to negotiate the back of this cast into a small opening in the bushes. It would be a piece of cake, right? I proceeded with the cast. Next, my jig got caught on the shrubbery behind me and although I realized it, my numb thumb was too frozen to react accordingly. The frrrrwhppp sound immediately followed and voila!

I didn’t even bother trying to undo it because I knew it was not worth the effort. My last casts (I can’t end an outing on a bird’s nest) were made with the spinning rig on the way back to the car.

If you have any, post your photos of some of the bird’s nests you have made.

Nope, not me, never had one of those things....

But seriously, we have all had them, but I have never thought to take a picture.

That's pretty bad looking too, but I've gotten some BAD ones when I lure hit a tree behind me, BAD. I probably go through 3 spools a year cause of them dam things (trees behind he that is).

That sucks, but look on the bright side, you only backlash when you're fishing!

My worst was when I got a crank stuck in my tackle bad behind me on a cast! That was one of those "This rod's done for the day" backlashes too.

I try to forget mine, so no photographic evidence exists. I usually get one or two nasty ones a year

Arrgghhhhhhhh, I hate those!!!!!! I get one every spring the same way it seems. Either a branch behind me or overhead. I'm usually much more careful where I swing my rod after that first backlash!
