I want a job.
It would be great if I could get a job pertaining to fishing, but all of the sports stores I've tried so far tell me I must be 17 or 18. I've tried to negotiate, but they say it's because they sell firearms.
Any recommendations for what I could do with fishing for a job? Thanks |

go to your local state park, or county or city park dept. may not be near a fishing hole. but thenit may. or ask at a local bait shop that is on or near the lake.

Sell bait? Do you mean I should make custom lures and sell them?
I am going to try local bait shops too Bama. |

I'd also try local tackle shops. I could probably get a job at Jann's Net Craft. Man, I'd love to own my own tackle shop.

I think he means like worms and minnows and stuff. Like the kind that poop
Start a worm farm and make some bank. the only problem you have at your age right now is that there are a heck of a lot more people trying to get a job to put food on the table (literaly) than there normally are. Most of the jobs in my area that are normally populated by young kids (14-18) are filled by adults providing for families. Good luck on the job hunt though. |

Yeah, I went to a resteraunt of a friend of ours, and he said he'll let me know, but he's got adults, college educated adults, offering to wash dished and clean the floors...

Try the smaller tackle shops. Try to get to know the owners. Be a regular customer first. Then you may want to go in and work for a couple hours for free. Finally you have to show that you know your fishing gear and be able to help people with their questions. Finally you have to be able to sell product (without pushing product). If you can do all of that you should be able to get a job.
If you have any boat dealerships around you could try and do the same with them. Check with your Department of Game and Fish and see if they have any jobs over the summer. Some Marina's have tackle shops or stores. One that I use hires students all the time but most don't like the early hours and all the work they have to do. Some last, most don't. |

My dad says he learned 90% of the stuff he knows about salt water fishing from working in a B&T shop. He got paid minimum wage, but learned a poop load of stuff along the way!
Try to gat a job working at a B&T shop, that's what I'd like to do. Good luck on the hunt!

Problem with working at McDonalds is he is gonna have to compete against a ton of motivated college educated adults who cant find anything else. Really. Its a crazy time.
Baitshops are even more in demand. I was just thinking he could dig up worms or even catch shiners and sell those.
