I usually start with soft plastics, spoons, or jigs. This time of year it can be slow and you will have to go through your lures to see what works. If you can be more specific on the water your fishing (such as, structure, color, temperature, ect.) there are a lot of great guys on here that can give you some truely excellent answers. Just pay no attention to the B.S., it can get neck deep in here.

I don't know about this time of year because we have ice right now. But for the summer, try a shallow crankbait like the Bandit 100. If you tell about where you are, or more importantly, water clarity, structure, and so on, the guys will definately be able to help you out.

Whoops, sorry. (I blame the dyslexia) I don't know why, but I thought it said "small pond fishing"

Again, Sorry.
