Our Lake Okeechobee trip (pic heavy)
The fishing was terrible, but the weather was worse. Sunday-heavy downpour and high winds. Monday-high winds all day long. Caught some fish, but nothing to bragg about. We did hook a manatee in the back and got to see it, AWESOME creature. Adam hooked a gator and the fight was on, lasted about 6 minutes, but never got to see it. Straightened out a Gammy EXW Superline hook, 65lb braid held up. Got it on video.
Lake Okeehobee---WHAT A BEAST!!! I would go tomorrow even if I knew the results would be the same. Awesome just awesome. Tigertown---the spring training home of the Detroit Tigers. I've been dreaming of visiting Joker Marchant Stadium since the late 60's. I'm happy.

After all said and done in the casino including super, we came out $51.00 poorer. I can live with that. I think.

On a Tuesday afternoon in March in a Fla. casino, showgirls would have sent the pacemakers in to overdrive.

Sounds like you had a really great time. Thats what counts bud! I hope to get the chance to fish The Big O someday. I've always wanted to try fishing a Johnson Minnow spoon with a big pork trailer through those reeds. Saw Roland Martin do that once a long time ago and he just slayed them. Glad you had a good vacation.

Nice pics, Ron.
I'm not sure I could fish Okeechobee for one reason...where do you cast to? The whole lake looks like "a good spot". Talk about sensory overload.

Look for isolated cover, such as a single stand of bulrushes out in front of the grassline. Its all about slightly increasing percentages.

Man what a trip that must have been. Sorry the weather didn't cooperate, but then again it rarely does. Either way I am glad you guys had a good time.
