Default Pocket Knives: What Do You Carry?

The thread on that ridiculously large pocket knife, and the question asked on it about what do you carry for a pocket knife prompted me to make this thread.

So, what do you guys carry?

I used to carry one of two el cheapo knives. One from a garage sale, the other from a flea market. After my flea market switchblade (fully automatic, but not the stereotypical out-the-front switchblade) fell apart, I looked at several decent ($20-40) knives at BPS. I decided to give the Buck Nobleman a try.

I really like this knife. Sharp out of the package, and held an edge well. While neither fully automatic or even spring assisted, I have no trouble opening the knife by pushing the thumb stud in combination with a little wrist flick. The tip bent when I dropped it on the floor, and I lost it shortly after. Back in the knife isle at BPS, I ended up picking up another of the Nobleman knives. It's a great knife or daily carry, and not overly expensive so I don't have to worry constantly about losing/breaking it. By the way, I did find my first one, so now I got two.

Used to carry a little 3" camo browning knife around every where I went... even got left in my pocket a few times, so it came to school with me occasionally! lol

Had it till my little brother left it in the woods. Liked that little knife, stayed sharp, and looked nice.

I have a small 1.5" Gerber on my key ring. When fishing, I carry a Gerber multi-tool. I also have a Gerber 3" blade pocket knife that will do just about everything - even skin and butcher a deer. Have you guessed that I like Gerber knives? I like the steel, holds an excellent, very sharp edge, and I really like the one hand opening design of both the multi-tool and the 3" pocket knife. The small knife is too light to open with a flick of the wrist, but it will open with one hand. I also use Gerber kitchen knives, I haven't found better at "reasonable" prices.

I carry a stainless steel Spyderco Delica. It's a great little knife for everyday carry. It is a solid, sturdy knife that is neither too big or too small and has enough substance to it without feeling heavy. The blade stays sharp and the knife stays tight. There is nothing worse than a knife that works itself loose. The Delica (like all Spyderco knives) is easily opened and closed with one hand. It doesn't have a spring assist but runs very smoothly. I carry it everyday with the clip in my front pocket. They are a little pricey but worth every penny. This is my 3rd Spyderco and I couldn't recommend them more, great knives.

I was looking around for one the other day. It has become such a sin to carry one offshore for the past few years, that I have lost the habit of having one while I am home. But like Joe, I used to carry a Spyderco and it was the best knife I ever had. It helped me in a bind more than a few times offshore and always held a good edge. I plan on getting me another one when I run across them.

I loose knives too often to buy a good one, so I carry something cheep that is a small single blade lock blade. About a 2 inch blade.

I carried a Buck on my hip for years when I worked construction, but found I didn't need it much when I changed careers so it stays in my tackle bag now....For the past 30 years I've been carrying the same Gerber LST 300 lockblade that was a gift from a company I worked for at the time....Great little knife.

I have to have a pocket clip on my pocket knives, I just can't stand chasing them around in my pocket when I need them. Several years ago I bought a Gerber knife that I absolutley loved. It would hold an edge for a long time and with not too much work on a wet stone she would be crazy sharp. The pocket clip broke and since then I have carried a few different cheap ones that I had before I bought the Gerber. Today we went to Bass Pro and among a few other things, I bought a SOG. Twitch II. So far I love it. It was very sharp out of the package but with a few minutes on my diamond sharpening stone it cut my finger with ease lol. I also like the spring assist which I haven't had in a knife before.

I always carry a little Gerber with a 1 1/2" or so blade. It is small and has an open frame and I've had it for years. When I can I usually also carry a Kershaw clipped on my pocket that has something like a 3 1/4" blade.

I had a Leatherman Skeletool CX that I carried some, but even though it was thin I couldn't get used to it. Then I forgot it in my computer bag one time and the TSA took it at the airport.

You've got great taste in knives!

My boss has a few Richard Self folders and a few fixed blades, they are beautiful but more than I can afford to spend on a knife.

Wish this guy still made them. These are the best I've ever been around.

I just got into higher quality knives just within the last few months.

I got a Spyderco Delica for christmas that I EDC, I frickin love that knife. Great steel and build quality. The VG-10 holds and takes a edge really well.

Im looking to get a fixed blade knife right now for backpacking. Looking at getting maybe a Ontario or a ESEE.

Their are so many cool knives out nowadays.
