Default Whatever happened to these?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300417378156

I remember when these were the "must have" rods when I first started tournament fishing. My old partner had a couple of them, and while I never really had a chance to fish with them much, he seemed to like them.

Were they just too big of pain to thread, or were there other issues. Always seemed like a good idea to me.

It's new to me, but it looks pretty sweet. I wouldn't mind trying one out myself. Looks like it would be great for long casting.

I'm pretty sure the TD S replaced them. They advertise them as "the green Handle has returned" or something like that

Must have been before my bass fishing time, though, never really knew they were popular.

I see they are still making them for saltwater use. If I recall correctly, they casted pretty decent until they got plugged with moss and algae from the water. They had to be cleaned frequently as I recall...maybe why they didn't go over very well.

For what I read I suppose you are talking about Innerline Rods ( link doesn´t work )

Well, like many things on this earth that at first look like a good idea which later turns to be not such a great idea, a friend of mine had a couple of them rods,

1.- less line friction ---> yeah right , I can literally see the line slapping all along the wall of the rod with "less friction" instead of rubbing against the smaller surface of 6-7-8 guides vs the entire surface all along the length and width of the rod.

2.- Also, the inner wall of the rod getting clogged with muck, debris & algae ( anybody ever fished algae rich water, let that thing dry on your gear and it turns into cement )

3.- The need of a special threader to put your line, no threader ---> useless rod.

Hmmm...the link is working for me. But yes, Innerline rods is what I am speaking of.

The threader is a non issue if you have one or not. They can be made on the water with ease.

But yes, there must have been some other downfalls.

Cam, they had a bad problem with getting clogged up with muck and were tough to clean out. they kind of fell out of favor.
