Default 1st tournament ='s 1st place!

Well our club had it's first tournament on Wednesday on Sanford Lake in mid-Michigan. It was only a paper tournament because we are still in our catch and release season. Well, with our wonderful weather and having my daughter every other weekend I had no time to pre-fish and have never been on the lake before I thought that I was in a world of hurt. But I picked a spot on the map (after throwing a dart at it) and started to fish.... By 9:30 I had my 3 fish limit. I ended up boating 9-10 bass and 3 pike. I finished with 8 lbs 4 oz, second had 8 lbs and 3 oz. (done via length to weight ratio).
All fish were caught on a Nemesis Shaky worm. (Thanks Chris!)

Thanks guys.

BB, it's been a crazy year so far with the weather. Water temp is still around 55 with a few places at 56. The fish are pulling up and making beds but then we would get some 30 degree weather add a little rain and they pull right back off. So to answer, yes some are on beds and some are not. We need some warm nights in the 50's to get them going.

TN - she was a little big in the belly. The downfall of going by a board is it doesn't take the time of year into the equation. On paper it was a 3 lb 6 oz fish, but chances are she weighed more.

Wow, congrats! That is a pretty sweet first, if I may say so. I caught a relative football bass myself. Makes you want to try out for the NFL.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Congrats on the win MIB! That's not the Sanford lake near TC, is it?

Great job MIB!!! If its the Sanford Lake near Midland I've fished it before but never did well. You nailed it as far the spawn....seems fish move shallow and then here comes the cold and back they go. This weekend should get them going though with little clouds and temps in 70s.

Great job up there! I bet that last one weighed a lot more than you got credit for but the same might go for the rest of the guys fishing too so I guess in that respect it is even. I made it to Sanford once last year and loved it. I'd love to go back, it is a really neat river impoundment. You will have to give Wixom a try sometime too!

It was the Sandford Lake in Sanford - right off M10 near Midland.

Bender - I fished the Federation Tx at Wixom last year. Nice lake as well.
