I did get to fish today, but I did not get to use the Veritas enough to give it a fair trial. I did get to use a Duckett Micro Magic rod, a friend of mine is a pro and fishes for Duckett and ABU, he made the trip out with me today and we enjoyed catching a few more trout.

Nice trout. Did you catch them in Kansas?

About painted rods;
Maybe the reason we don't see as many is that once upon a time, paint was used on rods to cover cheap blanks, and there has been a little bit of a carryover from that thinking. The first thing I used to check when I was buying a rod was whether I could see the graphite shine, and how much extra glue was loaded on.

Also, orange is such an ugly color - and I think companies are trying to avoid marketing a rod that will be the wrong color and unecessarily eliminate part of their market. I would not buy a rod just because it is a specific color (say red), but if its the wrong color then that could keep me from buying one.

Yes they were caught in KS, I have a membership to a small private lake that stocks trout in Nov. We have been catching some nice trout on crankbaits of all things.

I held a Veritas today at Gander Mtn. I was impressed by how light the rod is. It's not to often I get excited about a rod but these might be worth it. It almost felt like I wasn't holding anything in my hand. I think it got my Kistlers beat. Now all I have to decide is what model next 20% off sale.
