Default Abu Garcia Vigilante??

during our last fishing trip, a spinning rod of mine got broke by stuff sliding around in the back of the truck.....I found a decent looking replacement at Walmart today but I can't find any info or reviews on it now that I've got it home....Its a Abu Garcia Vigilante rod.....24ton graphite with Zirconium insert guides and EVA foam handle.....it seemed like a decent rod for less then $40 but I can't find any info online about it....its not even listed on Abu's website, so maybe its something built just for Walmart?....Anyone got any experience with these rods??

Interesting! Snap some pics for us next time you're in wally world will ya? Haven't seen these before, much less heard of them. I'll looks next time I'm at wally world.

I know they're releasing a new rod to go with the MGXtreme though. Not sure the name, but saw something about on Brandon Palaniuk's facebook page.

My guess is that they won't match a $500 reel with a $40 rod.
Just a hunch though.

Default Found this

24 ton graphite, zirconium guides that are well spaced and straight, high density foam handles, smooth matte black blanks,7 ft, 1 piece fast action, medium heavy, 12-25 lb test rating but i think it can fish down to 8 lb test if you wanted to. Its basically the Vengeance line of rods without the printed graphics on the blank and different reel seats.

But this sound more like the Abu Garcia Vengeance?

Found this from another site searching for the exact same thing, King Fisher.

Now looking under Pure fishing and not Abu I find this,

http://www.tasfish.com/index.php?opt...iews&Itemid=84

Does it look anything like this Rod?

Ok, how about this?

Lower left hand corner of add.

This is from a Pure Fishing Catalogue

Ok, I'm done looking so let me know King if any of these are close.

It was a combo set at one time would be my guess. ABU put out a bunch of them that do not show on website. I bought a dozen combo's once for 15 bucks each and sold them for 40.00 each.

Default Ya Think I Got the ILLNESS?

Abu knows nothing.
Pure Fishing knows nothing.
Walmart .com knows nothing, cause they don't have them on web site. I think this maybe the ONLY product Walmart carries that you can't get on-line.

Now I actually CALLED all these places 'customer non-service' departments.
Walmart hid their number the best.

Walmart floor people, fishing dept. manager, warehouse manager, and Store Manager, know nothing. Except that "I don't know"....really hits a stumbling block when it hits dog's ears. We got to spend an hour and a half ENJOYING each others company.
Oh, if I want to order more.....somewhere they got the idea that I wanted a quantity of them and they only had 3 in store, it would take 30 days.
This all leads me to believe that this is a Walmart exclusive deal.
Pure fishing and they since last year have a STRONG relationship. To the point of Pure Fishing have a 'Walmart Specific Dept.' now even.

Now Walmart is calling ME back cause after finally getting a phone number and again unwilling to except "I don't know" as an acceptable answer, the young lady forwarded the questions 'she says' directly to the right people.

Now I held both the casting and spinning rods.
I was surprised.
They are light.
Feel strong....can only bend a rod so far in front of the store manager.
Felt and handled a Med. light spinning and I believe a Med casting. Can't remember if the actions were listed on rods or not.
Heck, I almost bought one. You really can't beat the price on a 24 ton graphite blank.

My only concern was the reel seats.
It has been a long time since I've owned a fair priced rod so I really have NO CLUE as to how this price range reel seats should feel.
But it felt 'flimsy'! Almost like it couldn't/wouldn't hold the reel for long if used much.
Reel seats are made by ABU, at least that's what the tag said.

MAN DO I MISS FISHING!!!

I took these pics to see if that might help.....But it sounds like you've done a ton of footwork already, without much success....Interesting, that nobody knows nothing...

I held this rod along with the Veritas I believe...could have been a Vendetta...they were on sale for $65 while the Vigilante was $37....they all felt very simular in weight but the reel seat/handle area of the Vigilante seemed to feel better in my hand then the more expensive rod....My fishing buddy kept trying to get me to get the more expensive rod, but after messing with both for awhile, I chose the Vigilante.

I fished with it today, but didn't catch a fish while using it.....I like the feel of the rod and seemed very sensitive while pulling crankbaits today....and its definitely lighter then my old rod which is a plus, but time will tell how it works out, but for the money spent I have zero complaints so far.
