Default First bass of the year.

Got two on shakyheads. First on a watermelon red, and the second on a june bug.

It sure was nice to be out there again!

8oz

7oz

Oh yeah, and Jay caught this dinky 3 1/2 pounder on a jig...

It was a blast!

I must have missed 5-6 fish. At least one was over a pound. We could see a lot of them too. The first ones I have seen since maybe October.

Way to go man!

Is that the Gamakatsu Skip Gap Shaky head? If so, how do you like them so far?

Yup!

I love the skip gaps. They are my absolute favorite SH hooks.

The keep the worm seated good. I lose fewer to fish ripping them up, and they are uber easy to reset. Highly recommended!

Hey BBD!

The lakes I fish most of the time are around where I live in Oak Leaf. I wouldn't exactly say we "slay" em here, but we get our fair share.

What part of Jax are you from?

I live in south side but I'm always out in the burg or anywhere I see a body of water around town that I can access to fish.

I've heard that this pond right here has some huge fush in it. A friend of mine lives on the pond and told me I could come fish it but I've been lazy here lately.

That is right down the road from me. I have never fished it, but I have thought about it.

I see you are using a clip instead of tying directly to the Shaky head. I have never fished a SH before, but plan to this year, and figured I would just tie directly to the SH. What is your reason for using the clip?

I have never lost a fish due to one breaking; not with the duo-locks I use anyway, and I don't catch any more fish without them than I do with them. They are just really convenient.

Yeah, I guess that's what I was wondering -- whether or not the snap hindered or helped the action in any way. I'm really looking forward to trying a Shaky head this year.

I have only bought one thing this year, and that was jig trailers.
