1st Potomac River outing 2011
Thought these pictures were gone when my cell phone crashed but remembered the micro SD chip in the phone and I've got a flash drive that I can put the chip into. Here's what I caught.....thought the kitty was a good bass until it rolled at the net.

Nice fish 3D! Orange traps seem to work well in the spring.

Black and red was a good color on Sat. The Major caught 6 or 7 quality fish on two size traps over grass. I lost the trap in the picture, it was custom painted by one of my customers, on a stump on a point. Couldn't catch a bass off the grass bed on other colors. Had to borrow a red one from the Major and still blanked.
The last bass I caught on a custom shad color. The water was much clearer up in the Wash. channel than it was further down river. The middle three came on the lizard off wood. Only one plastic bait you need to have in the spring.......Zoom 6" pumpkin chart. lizard!!!! Best fish was 3.5lbs and came on first cast with the lizard. It was a good day for a first day out. Too bad there's a 15" limit this time of year and I had to release 4 of the 5. 10lb limit turned out to be a 3.5 lb bag.

Glad to see somebody's catchin' them. I'll be on the Potomac in a couple weeks, and I can't wait to get down there.

Way to go 3D! That red color trap bait is the color they seem to want here too. You gonna eat that cat?

Water temps up around Blue Plains was 54 or so. Further south we found 50-52 degrees. Definately warmer in the backs of the shallow creeks but the fish school and stage out at the mouths this time of year. Bait selection this time of year varies. Guys caught them on a variety of baits. Senko, lizard, and traps seemed to be the better baits for the day. |
