Default Snakeheads (Hooked)

I don't know if anyone is interested, but National Geographic (NatGeo) channel is showing "Hooked" in about an hour. I watched a piece of it earlier. But it is just telling of the investigation of bringing snakeheads into the country for oriental markets and being released in to the waterways.

In a world where human beings are bought and sold, the snakehead trade will never be stopped.

We have to just make a point to eat every last one we can. Forever.

The only way to get rid of them will be with genetic sabotage and that wont be available for a little and may not be applied for even longer. But the introduction of invasive species is gonna keep happening.

Frankly, given the anti-establishmentarianist point of view that is so prevalent these days, I think shows like this actually cause more damage than they prevent. Yeah, I know about the well-intentioned Chinese guy who didn't know any better when he let them go in a pond. There aren't enough of him to justify all of the Snakeheads running (swimming?) loose at this time.

Who's responsible? Little jerk teenage boys are responsible for a lot of it, the same way as when they find the occasional Piranha in the local pond in the Summer. Some pimple-faced, death metal worshipping, bloodlusting, teen boy who can't afford the goldfish or newborn kittens to feed it anymore lets them go just for kicks. And National Geographic rewards him by publicizing it.

Unfortunately, the government can't get funding for the cleanup, or doesn't even care about it, until the public gets good and worked up over it, so I guess the alarmist TV show is sort of necessary in its own way.

I say develop a good recipe for Snakehead and let some Southerners in on it. Let the carnage begin.

We already have a great recipe for them. Take them to the local Chinese and Hispanic restaurants and drop them off. Good eats!!!! I've got a local cook at a seafood market/take out who wants one but I haven't caught any lately.

Perhaps we should take matters in our own hands and go fishing for snakeheads on occasion and sell them to the chinese resturaunts. Could be a way to feed the bait monkey.

I believe that would be illegal here in VA but if it was legal and people paid good $$$ I'd think be in. My club brings in a couple every tournament. Most we've had in one day is 5 or 6.

I caught a flathead down on SML one time so we took it back to get it weighed and picture taken (7lbs - not big at all but caught it on a JnP and was a fun fight). I asked if they could clean it and cook it at the restaurant and was told that no, it was against the law for them to cook it. So I went and sat down to order lunch and my friends had told the waitress what I was planning. She wasn't happy with me since they fed the fish off the dock and considered them pets. There wasn't any way I was going to smooth things over. My friends got a huge laugh out of it.

That's what I'm saying.

It was probably some wannabe mad scientists and crazy engineering students wanting to see the effects the snakeheads would want to have on the enviroment.

Haha, nothing...mostly.

I'm just fascinated by some distinct patterns I've noticed regarding various musical genres...

Rap music fans seem to monopolize pit bull fighting.

Death Metallers seem to have cornered the market on killing neighborhood pets in Satanic rituals.

Country music....well.....let's just say that's cruel to the human animal.

Death metal will live forever in those of us with dark minds.
