Lightbulb Injected Floating Worms

If legal in your locale, get hold of a syringe and needle from a veterinary supply. Use it to inject air into your plastic worms to make it high-floating. Alternately, inject in scent.

hmm... Will the air stay in the worm? I'm gonna have to give this a try. injecting the scent sounds like a really good idea too! And lucky for me, I have lots of syringes (my cat is diabetic and gets insulin shots) I'm sure I could use one.

If you want the air to stay in, use a dab of the glue they make for plastic worms on the hole once it's inflated.

That is a very clever idea, Stew.

ROFL...I just thought of something funny. I don't think KVD or anyone else is going to endorse a hypodermic needle bait enhancement system. It'll look like Bass fishermen are shooting up on the water.

haha,no kidding .....mine would be custom made with graphite...it'll be lighter than plastic and inject the air quicker!

and then listen to everyone tell me the abu garcia revo needle is better

seriously though great idea.....even though its already hard explaining fishing to my wife....needles in the tackle bag might be a bit tougher.
but still,worth a try.

How long before they start handing out new needles at the boat ramp for all the junkies? No tellin' what you'd catch from sharing.

When I used to fish for walleye I used an air injector. It was a little plastic bottle with the needle on the cap. Worked pretty good on crawlers. I think it might be in my old walleye tackle box. I like the scent idea.

"Lures so good...you won't want to share."

"You've heard of Rapala DT's? Well, they've got nothing on these DT's!!"

LOL. I could do this all night.

I was trying to figure out if this idea is new or old. Apparently, it is NOT new, although it was new to me and I came up with it on my own.

I found this entry in a 1998 Outdoors Encyclopedia (scroll down just a bit and see the subheading "Floating Worm Rig" under the heading RIGGING PLASTIC WORMS). It references this trick.

In the process of web-researching this, I encountered something else interesting; namely, some fellows who came up with an apparatus to inject compressed Berkeley Crappie Nibbles into tube jigs. Have a look.

The insulin syringes would be perfect for injecting air. The liquid that make up the scents may be too thick for that diameter needle. If it is too difficult to draw up in that syringe, go to the local farm store and get a small diameter needle with a small syringe. Probably a 25 gauge needle will due. Needles are sized like wire. The larger the number, the smaller the size. I am thinking that the smaller needle will allow the scent to leak out slower and last longer. Also, if you are using it to inject air it will leak less until you apply the drop of glue.

Many moons ago as kids we used a needle to put air in the night crawlers. worked great then. If we could not get a syringe, we would huff and puff to get enough air in the worm. Believe me when I say we did not need drugs to get dizzy. we would turn different shades of red before the worm would float.
