Actually no one really knows for sure if it was really ever caught. There is no picture to prove it. Some say it was a striped bass. Others say Perry knew his fish spieces. The measurements match the measurements of a 22 lb striped bass.

well there is no reason to doubt the world record...it could have been....it may not have been.......but the record is a record....it can be proven....because it was recorded.....it may not be good evidence...but it is.

I read about some dum A$$ who might have caught the world record but released it. It was supposedly huge and the dum guys didn't weight it or measure it.

TM, how can you say the goerge perry record is fake? as far as we know he caught a 22lb 4oz bass.....end of story...........you cant say it was fake....because you wernt there.....it doesnt matter if another fish of that size hasnt been caught there........and the next world record can be caught in any southern state.........there could be multiple records in every southern state....hell, there could be a record in a northern state for all we know.............Rat l trap, he had it weighed and certified back then.....they may have had no idea what they were doing, there scales may have been wrong, it may not of even been a bass, but as far as we are concerned, it was a record bass.......doesnt sound very believable.....but we cant say it was fake............

Please name a state except for Ca. that has produced and varified bass over 21lbs

You cant!

I will never belive George Perry's story since no other bass has even come close out of Ga. and it was the 25.00 that perry needed from field and stream as a prize that made him lie about the fish.

Florida, a guide managed to catch one that weighed in excess of 23 lbs while tossing his net for shiners. If it wasn't for the florida strain being introduced in cali, there wouldn't be anything over 10 pounds out there.

Exactly TM where you live 12 pound bass are common... so a 6 pounder to us is like a 12 pounder to you.. .we dont live in a place that fish are that big so honestly your 12 pounder is like our 6 pounders

Heck no, keep the bass alive and put it in a tank at BPS, mount the reel rod and lure in your home somewhere.

It would be ashame to kill a record bass but research shows it would not live much longer anyhow. For the money sakes I would have to keep it I am sad to say. I would try and keep it alive but there is only so much you can do.

Well, Money is not everything. Think of what it took to get the record. I could not let it die by my hand, It woudl have to go naturally. I am not an animal activist, show me the world record buck and I wil shoot it(only if done legally).

Tm if your so great and you can catch so many big fish than how come i havent seen you in the classic? nor winning a classic? if you can catch such big fish and know how than you could obviously win man... I mean seriously you talk like your better than everyone else and that you never catch a fish less than 6 pounds so go for it enter the classic and lets see just how could you do... are those fish even real? do you edit them with photoshop? how would anyone know if the fish in the pictures you have are real... so dont go judging anyones records cause as far as i know the fish in the pictures could be fake

whoa whoa, there is no doubt that those pics are fake........why would TM make so many fake pictures? nope, they are real.....but even if a bass hasnt been recorded over 21lbs any where in the U.S. except cali doesnt mean anything. i mcan bet that there is multiple bass records in any southern state.....just cause one hasnt been recorded.........or been caught meansnothing......catching the record has soley to do with being at the right place at the right time......also, it is true that if it wasnt for the florida strain of bass, many of those big bass in cali would not be there........but there aint no doubt that your pics are real.....
