Default Grassmaster weed jig

Has anyone seen Scott Martins's Grassmaster Weed Jig? I recently bought 4 of the because of the wieght and head design but didn't realize the lead of the head is molded around the line tie of the hook. Keeping in mind I don't use braided line at all, does anyone know the "proper" way to rig these up. I don't like the idea of tying directly to the line tie(because it would cut through mono), and it looks like maybe it's suppose to ride free up and down the main line with something tied at the bottom so the jig won't fall off. I was thinking about maybe trying a split ring but I think to get one on it's going to spring the ring because of the gap necessary to get the ring on the jig head. Any suggestions anyone?

I actually bought one the other day, but I don't see how it would cut mono. (?)
Just tie it on like any other jig. (palomar)

Palomar knot. C-Bird turned me on to them a couple years back and I love them. The recessed line tie makes them less likely to get hung up.

Thanks guys, you are correct Reb. I guess I saw a potential problem before I even used them. Just don't like the lead around the eye. I always use the Palomar. Have for 34 years. Thanks again.

I tried to get some to sell at the shows I've been doing and they wouldn't sell them to me. Long story but they wanted $.80 - $1.00 more for each jig to sell them at the shows . I finally gave up on them and found a local who will make them for me .

Great Jig, the head design is fantastic, it does what it says it is "GRASSMASTER". I use a Palomar for everything. Try using a baby Paca Craw on it for a trasiler, the whole bait, don't shorten it, and not the "Chunk's", even though they work as well.

Great Scott, I was wondering if you were going to comment. As my hero Lizards mentioned, I too like the whole baby paca craw as a trailer.

I should have asked what lb test line you are planning on using before saying mono is fine.I do not go under 14 lb test and then I check the line above the jig after every fish and I often retie after every couple of fish for I change the jig out in doing so.I take time to touch the point up once at home after a few fish rather than keep fishing the same one.Its easier to retie a new jig on as it is to take time to touch the point up after every few fish.
