Bass fishing is now an Olympic sport

OK so this is just a random thought but seems like there would be more people interested in watching fishing then some guys sweeping ice as fast as they can to send a puck as slow as they can…. Of course Bass Fishing would need to be in the summer events and just think finally an Olympic sport that has cool shirts and most of them XL’s… No more of that crazy gotta be in the best shape of your life nonsense.

I, for one, think the Olympics are a joke. They have been since the invention of television. They have been neatly packaged to sell products and make political statements.

All countries need to go back to totally amateur athletes and most of the ridiculous sports gotten rid of. They need to go back to seeing who is the best at running, fighting, and throwing things. No "style point" sports either. All results should be able to be verified with a ruler or scale, otherwise...not a sport.

Since I now live right next door to Lake Placid I have heard some of the firsthand experiences of having the Olympics here in 1980. It sounds like a magical thing to have experienced live. When I asked a local if they ever thought it would come back the response was: "There is not even enough room to house the media alone now". That gives you some idea of what the Olympics have become, a media circus and just another way for TV to make money. I can't stand TV anymore so much that I don't even have one in the house.

I do think it would be kind of neat to have bass fishing though since there are quantifiable result. The only problem is that I think there would be 99% Americans involved. It would be one sport where you wouldn't have to worry so much about performance enhancing drugs.
