I worked for a plumber one summer, and one job we had was doing one of these "kit" log cabins. It was a big one, probably 3000 sq ft, 2 story, nice looking place. The general contractor told my boss how much it cost as it stood when we got there, with just the exterior walls, roof, and interior stud walls framed. There were no lights, ceilings, doors, kitchen cabinets, nothing done inside. It was up to about $250,000 at that point....

kory, lisa and i wanted to have a log home at first. WAY TO COSTLY AND TOO HARD TO INSURE. i love em, but the maintenance is also very costly. the price of the one we watned was a shell as well, 250,000.00. we are in a 200 plus square home and it cost us around 90 grand. it helps to have a friend in the building of homes business too. yes, CHRIS YOUNGBLOOD built our house. he was with BOB SMITH at the first get togehter.
